Can confirm true in the US — one of my most favoritest novellas of all time for twoooooo bucks, get it get it get it.
Can't sleep, surprised to see that THE BUTCHER OF THE FOREST ebook is on sale for two dollars (in Canada at least) though!

Even after thirteen books I always get a little jumpscare when I see my name

shocking that we live in a world in which you can rick roll someone and THEY DON'T EVEN GET IT
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

I used to manage wine programs for movie theaters and I am in the extremely unique position to say with professional certainty that the answer here is a crisp Albariño.

Not quite what you asked, but I invented a drink called a SharkNado, which involves vodka-soaked gummy sharks.

If you get the balance of sparkling cider right, they get tossed around in the glass.

Finished up this wave painting! Will be varnishing it to bring out the richness but want to let the paint fully dry overnight before applying.

This one is up for grabs.

I didn't bother reading it (thank you for doing the unpleasant work, Kate!) but what bothers me most about this, I think, is the smug implication by the 'writer' that her time is so much more important than the reader's. "I use AI because I have better things to do than write for you!"
If you're wondering whether the "open letter about AI" on file 770 is worth reading and engaging, it is not. The whole thing is rhetorical mush so it was no surprise when I got to the end and she admitted "her" letter was itself written by AI. Useless bait.

"This story doesn't need a sandworm"

This is almost always wrong. Arguably, EVERY story benefits from adding a huge subterranean worm with quasi-mystical or semi-supernatural powers, or equivalent (similar to Moby Dick).

Obviously the bigger the worm, the more literary quality it adds.
