Hi friends,

Many of you know me, some it’s the first time meeting.

Here’s an introduction from last month when BlueSky has a multitude of new accounts. It’s a decent overview of my social media interactions & goals.

TL;DR: daily natural wonders, always punch a nazi, good faith engagement.
Welcome new friends and friends I haven’t seen in awhile~

If you’re sharing this BlueSky space with me you’ll be seeing a lot of mountain & desert adventures, the wonders of the cosmos, and lots of invertebrate creatures. 💜💙💚

People inevitably ask, "How do you "celebrate" Exploding Whale Day?" when I ask them if they do. Pay it forward. Tell them where to find the video. Describe some highlights. I introduced it to at least a half-dozen people yesterday.
Last night, I shared the holiest of social media days, "Exploding Whale Day," with Husband. He had never seen or heard of it before! 55 years!

What both a comfort & sweet joy that every year we celebrate Exploding Whale Day together! A connection in humor, absurdity and commonality of amazement.

I met a friend on the trail this morning, & was worried about how cold it was going to become.

So I made my friend a leaf lean-to in anticipation of the snow.

Most people have an intuitive sense of "genetic determinism" that isn't shared by most geneticists.

Your 'genes' play a part in who you are, but in a chaotic, unpredictable way because of their interactions with each other, your choices & the environment.
Genetic determinism, essentialism and reductionism: semantic clarity for contested science - Nature Reviews Genetics
In this Perspective, Harden reviews the terms genetic determinism, genetic essentialism and genetic reductionism to provide consensus and clarity about the meaning of these terms. She discusses common...

A far more important lesson to learn is that most genetic variation, including the capacity for genius in all domains of human endeavor, is shared across the whole of humanity.

How many Einsteins, Beethovens, Monets have died with their potential unrecognized?
"I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops."

Now that migration and work has slowed down. I’m moving back into my photo editing era 💅

Gonna try and commit to pushing out more photos

I have a back log of 349 photos I’ve “liked” which indicate it’s passed my quality check for edits…

Here we go!

Love Fulgorids! The butt fireworks are wax lines along which honeydew waste can drip away from the body. They also serve as a defense.
#ElkeDagEenInsect
