How Hollywood Turned Its Back On One Of The Most Exciting Filmmakers
Director Karyn Kusama’s debut movie, Girlfight, was a critical knockout in 2000; her latest film, The Invitation, is opening to raves. To get from that point to this one, however, has been "like open-...

The Democratic Party is so committed to mistrusting and de-emphasizing grassroots swells of support that they legitimately believe “issues” are a thing that they direct and control, rather than things that they respond to and capitalize on. It makes me feel insane.

Never forget that the airlines were instrumental in reducing the Covid isolation requirements and paid time off.
Why? It was hurting their profits.
They were about to lose money again due to the shutdown… so the Dems caved.
Medicaid & ACA will be gone to keep airlines happy.
Profit over people.

And I've been doing politics for long enough to know clearly that the entire Senate Democratic caucus agreed to this decision to fold. Open your eyes. The 8 who "broke" did so with the complete blessing of Schumer and their colleagues. You don't have to play along because this is not a game. The end

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

the big thing that gets to the heart of it for me is not just choosing to end the movie with a Byron quote (evil!!), but the post script’s sentiment is not even felt! i sorely wished it was. where was the suffering???
I reviewed the muddled mess that is Guillermo del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN. Beautifully lit but poorly framed, exquisitely costumed but burdened by shaky CGI, and above all, a defanged and sentimentalized adaptation of Shelley's novel.

EXCLUSIVE on @gamedeveloper.bsky.social: not only has The Game Awards not nominated a Future Class for 2025, it's told alumni it "does not have any active programming plans" for the award.
