It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our colleague Nick Thorpe passed away on Monday. He was an incredibly lovely person, a talented writer and an essential part of the magazine.
Our thoughts go out to all his friends and family at this difficult time.
Rest in peace, friend.

I don’t like subtweeting people I consider online friends, but there is a subset of people who are very worried about the ongoing radicalisation of our political elite but won’t ever acknowledge the echoes with the radicalisation of their colleagues on trans rights
And few who are sympathetic to us, some who are friendly with me on here, will ever stick their head above the parapet

Solidarity with every trans person struggling to keep their heads in the game today. Along with everything else, this is absolutely a war against our collective and individual mental and emotional health - against our very sense of self.

It's expected to feel the blow. But we stay fighting.

There's going to be a lot of people telling trans people in the UK to "calm down" and their expressions of rage "are not helpful" to the organizations caving to fascism.

Fuck em. This is not about being helpful. This is about being recognized as equal human beings by society.

It's all bad but hadn't seen the bit where Farage says:

"The European Union is the prototype for the New World Order."

That is a seriously, deeply problematic term that taps into Illuminati and antisemitic conspiracy theories.

How the fuck did this man direct the course of our politics?
We kept the receipts. These comments, taken together, paint a picture of the man he is today.

I can’t believe it. I loved and cherished every moment with Nick, from him coming to my studio, playing our game before anyone else, to spontaneous phone calls and our many little exchanged on social media. He was a great and kind human, a man of great taste and a friend. Games culture needed him.
This is absolutely heartbreaking news.

Scott Bessent said something remarkable on Fox News yesterday. If Russia attacked Europe, he said, the US would... sell us weapons - but no troops. NATO kaput, in other words. Should this not be headline news across Europe? Is it not a sign of EU brain death that it is not?

The grittiness and colours of Manila were the most apt backdrop for the emotions and Filipino sensibilities brought about by ingrained patriarchal conservatism. I adore films that take me back to familiar spaces and SUNSHINE did not only tell a brave story but was also a visually rich piece of work.
