I want to write about something very stupid that happened to me yesterday. I don’t want to do it in a self-serving way but I do think it illustrates a good point. As the pardon news broke I was asked a question about it and I didn’t have a clear answer so I just said I had to think about it.

I’ve always thought that the resistance to integration, then women, then gays and trans people, in the military was not sincerely about preparedness or ability but about seeing the military as an institution that should reflect and enforce traditional social norms.
as a warmongering liberal i absolutely support the inclusion of trans people and women not just in the armed forces but in combat positions. if someone is willing to fight and die for their country i want them doing the job, dont give a damn wtf they have between their legs.
