Remember back in 2020 when those "open everything up" chuds kept all mysteriously traveling from city to city trying to fight covid restrictions? Or how all of the same people started popping up at PTA meetings to ban books/classes?
The fact that every right winger with influence screams "who is paying for all of this" tells you exactly how awash in cash they all are, and how much they rely on that to keep their movement afloat.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

At one point at the Boston Phoenix we discovered the BPD union newsletter. They took it offline when we started quoting it but we ran a series called "Shit Cops Say" and it would curl your fucking hair. The worst was the contempt for VICTIMS of crimes.
i used to study police union contracts as an abolitionist organizer and those things are evil
maybe jobs where you can kill with impunity shouldn't be allowed to unionize?

just gonna throw out a quick reminder that in America police kill a yearly average of 3 civilians per day, routinely in situations very similar to these ICE killings, and decades of explicit support for police impunity by US politicians is why ICE feels theyre able to get away with this right now

The Rodney King video is one of the most important moments in American history because it showed people, particularly comfortable white people, irrefutable evidence that marginalized people’s stories of how police behaved - which were never believed - were in fact true.
Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

Nothing definitive--basically we are used to being hung up on because of the lag in translation time, so my workaround for these calls has been using ip/text relay and having the message typed out ahead of time so you can copy/paste it in fast enough before the phone tree or staffer hangs up!

People did similar coverage for Renee Good and I do absolutely believe that it makes a difference. It reaches a lot of low-info voters who don’t consume much political media, and it isn’t framed as political news coverage. it’s framed, correctly, as coverage of an innocent person’s murder
This is the kind of write up we see for victims of airline crashes or other high profile deaths.
