I have just read an article claiming Star Trek fans lean far-right wing and women are not interested in SF and even less so in Star Trek

I have no idea who "Giant Freaking Robot" are but I have to conclude they know sweet fuck all about SF fandom or Star Trek fandom

Totally divorced from reality

Some solid analysis here on how and why many Asian NYC voters flipped from Trump to Mamdani. Turns out people are disaffected with politics, and it's all about running on issues. Whowouldathunkit?
Why many Asian American Trump voters chose Zohran Mamdani in NYC's primary
An analysis of election districts won by Trump in 2024 and Mamdani in this year’s primary shows many feature a majority of Asian American residents.

Huge opportunity for a political party that believes government can do good things. Public opinion is finally shifting after 50 years of right wing anti-government propaganda. This isn't the time for cowering and throat clearing www.cnn.com/2025/06/01/p...

At my stepdad's wedding to a wealthy woman my siblings & I played music & her rich friends were so impressed. When they want creative work they buy it, not make it themselves. People with money but no creativity of their own can't tell the difference.
I get why techbros and their ilk like gen-AI: artists and writers to them are just an obstacle to be bypassed. But I'll never get an author/artist/musician who uses it. "I want to be a writer." No you don't. You fetishize ideas but hate the work. You don't respect the craft or its practitioners.

So we’ve got two competing schools of what the Democratic Party should do next. One of them is hosting the largest political rallies in history in places like New Hampshire and Arizona, and the other one just got $120 million from Silicon Valley and is on a book tour.

It should be required reading for anyone trying to understand why national Democrats are rolling over so badly, and what actual organized resistance looks like. Please read, share widely and #joindsa

I am so tired of these shabby, pitiful little men. They stink of the sly connivance previously dominated by cheap carnival barkers and two cent grifters. They are odious, shallow, and a blight against the existence of honest people and a society that values trust.

An economic system that even allows the existence of billionaires at all is a system that must be ruthlessly and unapologetically destroyed.

Democracy is burning, and we need sites like Bluesky more than ever. And Senator Durbin wants to repeal 230, which would massively stifle the ability of sites like Bluesky to exist, while massively empowering X and Meta.

Why?

It seems that someone in his office doesn't understand 230.
It’s time to repeal Section 230. We must be able to take social media companies to court for addicting kids and enabling drug trafficking on their platforms.
