I don't buy the guy's explanation. Sounds like trying to find a way of saying "Ritual" after "Ritual" has been made so utterly laughable by years of Time Team

Holy serendipity Batman!

This got forwarded to me whilst watching this very video
Ok. Utterly non-political, human history post here, because I find it fascinating and love a good mystery! This thing... Almost only found in Gaulish and Celtic British regions during the Roman era. What is it for?
Paul thinks he knows... Im not convinced!

BTW, to transform the A4 sized picture (right) into a multiple page overlapping thing (left) I could make a bigger version of, I used "Posterazor" on Linux, handy!

Choose how many pages you want to transform to and it does the job. In this case two A4 sheets made a bigger backdrop

The hill I will die on is that George was the best Beatle.
From @ericidle.bsky.social & Neil Innes' brilliant & criminally overlooked/unavailable RUTLAND WEEKEND TELEVISION, here's a truncated glimpse of George Harrison's Christmas 1975 guest appearance runner, where he didn't want to perform a song - He really just wanted to play a pirate...

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

I’ve decided I must have this, but as it’s sure to be over $1000 my friend and I have decided to split the cost and just ship it back and forth across state lines, each of us adding one piece at a time until it’s finished and this is obviously a perfect plan

One for Southsiders: Snuff Mill Bridge in an anonymous painting from 1836 (artuk.org/discover/art...).

I think the "Auld Hoose" of the title is a venerable pub (oldglasgowpubs.com/tag/the-auld...), later transferred to Old Castle Road, and finally closed when Cathcart went dry in 1921.

Obviously this is ridiculous as a policy for employees but also as a customer my blanket preference from any people working in any store anywhere ever is “leave me the absolute fuck alone”

Smiling?? Eye contact?? TALKING TO ME???? Absolutely not!!!!
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

It's 2034 and Robert Bowman (32), a former fireman from Stafford, is publicly executed by hanging for not wearing a poppy.

At his trial, upon hearing that Bowman didn't even have his state issued flag of St. George on display at his home, the judge dismissed the jury and declared him guilty.
This is the fearless journalism Britannia deserves.

Having to wrap up The One Ring for at least a while, 2nd last session tonight

The Company travelled past Deadman's Dike, robbed the servants of a Captain of Angmar & a would be sorcerer, and stole a march on them to investigate the mound that lies over the ruined palace of the Kings of Arthedain
