During Jim Henson's first show, Sam and Friends, he often pushed the bounds of puppetry. His most infamous pursuit is a muppet called Ophel, built out of animal bone and sinew to create "a better illusion of life".

This year as we said goodbye to Rob Reiner and David Lynch, the amount of stories of their kindness, their decency, and their humble bravery (and how these qualities informed their storytelling) stood in sharp contrast to the shallow arrogance we see every day on the news.

Rob Reiner made some great movies but he was also unafraid to speak the truth, and was one of the public voices who knew you don’t squander your platform, and only got louder about opposing evil fucks as he got older. Legend.
