As mentioned prior, the Briggs family has a percolator. Virtually nobody in America used these by 1989, as the Mr. Coffee had debuted almost twenty years prior and had gotten cheap. An *electric* one indicates old-school Americana values with modern conveniences, which fits their entire kitchen.

inland empire's also an actual place in los angeles; Inland Glass was based out of Chicago and was active from the twenties through the sixties and my assumption is just that Lynch loved the look at the time, bought one, and lent it to the set a few years later
