Very proud to that my 1st PhD student is defending her thesis today. Diana is brilliant and she found that PHBs interact with Atg8 in yeast and its absence causes Atg32 mitophagy receptor instability impacting mitophagy. Here her paper! www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

NIH is going to hold a town hall for staff with director Jayanta Bhattacharya, and apparently the form to submit questions is publicly available. In case that’s of interest.

Happy #Golgiday to all that celebrate!
On April 19, 1898, Camillo Golgi described what we now know as the #Golgi apparatus - a structure so pretty and unusual it took over fifty years for the scientific community to agree it wasn’t just an artefact.
April 19 is #GolgiDay! Mark your calendars to honour the best organelle.

After some time with mammalian cells and my beloved Dictyostelium, life has taken me back to my yeast origins. Must confess this first experiment was really satisfying. A mitochondria project with my colleague Ryan Cupo is cooking and will soon be ready!

Earlier this week, an undergrad in lab asked me if I think we're in a simulation.

I said, if we are, it's more likely to be a failed simulation that doesn't arrive at the high intelligence beings that are running it.

Anyways... here's a paper
