Not even Brian likes haggling, and he may have been the messiah. Or not.
Yeah, people will be so much happier when they negotiate their own insurance because folks definitely have enough information to navigate that process without getting fleeced. And we all famously love negotiating prices - that’s why everyone loves used car salespeople.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

NEW: President Trump's pardon of his alleged 2020 co-conspirators was less about shielding them from past crimes, his adversaries say, than about signaling to others that he has their back if he needs them again in 2026 or 2028.

First Trump is trying to expropriate $230M from DOJ for himself, now this
This allows Trump (via DOJ) to use taxpayer money to bribe eight GOP Senators. It's that simple, there's no other way to describe it.
And where's the compensation for people injured by the Trump admin's unlawful conduct through DHS & DOGE?
Take a bow, @schumer.senate.gov, you did this.

I missed this awful detail in the Senate deal: helping politicians who conspired against America as part of Trump's coup hide their phone records.
That's right, as ICE brutally violates rights in ways that leave people with no recourse, the Senate found time to protect their colleagues from justice.

Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

Seriously have no idea how you can host a major international sports even under these circumstances.
Wow: Per Hamdi's legal team, his only charge was a visa overstay — after Trump revoked his visa.
Despite DHS tweeting that Hamdi supported terrorism, they never charged him with any criminality.
In other words: Trump revoked a journalist's visa, so agents could arrest him for overstaying his visa.

NEW: British journalist Sami Hamdi is being released from US detention.
Trump administration agents detained him two weeks ago at the San Francisco airport — hours after he addressed an event, where he urged US leaders to take an “America First” approach rather than “Israel First.”

For that matter, the ACA marketplaces literally allow you to “negotiate your own insurance” RIGHT NOW. That’s the whole point of having a marketplace: You can compare plans and pick the one you feel is the best value for your needs & budget.

“Negotiating your own insurance” will result in everyone getting the dirt-cheapest junk plan which covers virtually nothing, because most people are terrible at risk assessment.

I followed the chain back and I don't think the claim is really consensus belief on here, I just think the relevant nexus of beliefs highly correlates with "likely to get in a fight with Will Stancil" and that is distorting his perception somewhat.
This is literally the consensus belief on this website. And because everyone knows it’s the consensus belief, big tastemaker accounts completely refuse to challenge it, because their game is to say things that they know the majority of their audience will agree with. So the falsehood spreads.
defining the economy is capitalist propaganda, as is measuring it with graphs. also, the economy is bad and used to be better and everyone knows it.

Witness the birth of Meta-Stancil.
Apparently my claim that the economy is definitely getting worse is overstated! Because of my reliance on popular social media narratives I was unduly certain when the signals are more mixed
> very definitely getting worse
I don't think this is obviously true, fwiw.
Like there are lots of bad headwinds right now, but I don't know how you assess that in aggregate relative to other recent years.
