Me: puts a normal sized load of clothes into dryer

Dryer: this will take me about 50min

Dryer, 2hours later: I'm done!

Me: checks clothes. Still not dry

What does it get out of lying to me every step of the way???
need a technology connections style investigation into why the eco mode on my dryer is so bad at ensuring the clothes are dry. surely there is some sensor and I guess if the clothes get balled up it cannot detect wet inside the ball.

but if I wash less clothes at a time I will use more energy

This book wrecked me in the best possible way.

It is... quite bleak. But fuck it is so damn good. Read it couple years ago and I still remember it vividly.

There are still 37 working days left in 2025 - 58 days total. There's still plenty of time to hit that writing goal & finish that script or book.

3 pages a day - just 750 words a weekday - and you can write a complete script. 4 pages a day - 1000 wds a day - and you can write a novel. You got this.

i drew devil horns on my head. I thought about wearing a costume but then I figured it would be somebody's fetish so I wore a hat and a giant flannel and also a giant coat.

4 by a lot. Then 1, then 3. Then, after several thousand light-years, 2.
In class today, I showed my students four short, unidentified excerpts from novels, and we talked about which one was the "best" and what it means for prose to be "good." I'm actually curious if you all will agree with them. so here goes:

This is so normal in so many cultures -- including mine! There are lots of people I refer to as aunt/cousin/uncle (etc) that are not, I dunno, technically that by blood. This is normal and everyone knows its normal, just desperate stuff if you are reduced to this kinda attack.
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

You're absolutely right — starting a land war in Asia wasn't just a bad call, it's 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. Thank you for calling me out on that — really. I'll be extra-strategic from now on.

Would you like me to get cracking on those 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿?
dawg we are gonna lose a war because ChatGPT has this guy mobilizing divisions that don't exist and tasking real troops with holding mountain passes and ports an LLM hallucinated

This is such a wild thing to write down and then post in public.

Literally, "redistribution of children is preferable to redistribution of wealth."
/3 But this is the core oooh-look-at-me-aren’t-I-a-little-freethinker masturbatory stuff that brings the clicks.

Finished @danielkraus.com's Angel Down about a week ago, and I can't get it out of my head.

One helluva book.

if you've not yet heard anything about it, I highly, highly recommend going in completely blind. Don't even read the jacket copy. Just know that pretty much every content warning applies
