Working on observability stuff at a place. Lover of Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror—currently working on a novel.

Other interests include: tech, finance, TTRPGs and poker.
I have given up on my dryers eco mode for any remotely large loads of laundry.

I have a very nice GE washer/dryer, but that is my one (very minor) complaint

Oh, I knew what I was in for.

Sometimes you want a book to kinda just beat the shit out of you (complimentary)

Seriously though, your economy of style and prose is just impeccable throughout.

Big agree. Im a sucker for a fat doorstop.

it really sucks that only established authors seem to be able to pen the big chonkers these days. Publishing doest seem to want to take a lot of swings with sprawling debuts anymore. I mean, I get the economics of why, but I like finding new voices I love.

I used to feel a little guilty about doing this in lieu of going to the theater, but the fact that these early rental/purchase options have become so ubiquitous tells me it must make some financial sense for studios.

Also I am lucky enough to have a shithot home theater, so I'm gonna use it.

After seeing that 2 is Hemingway, I can't remember a time when I felt more vindicated

I've seen the setting/worldbuilding/lore of the souls games described as "digestive rebirth" and I think that applies to the narrative construction as well.

Yeah, I try not to read up on biographical details of golden age/new wave SF authors anymore. As often as not there's gonna be something awful in there, and I can't separate the art from the artist once I know the details.

Those last couple paragraphs are so profoundly repugnant I would, in a vacuum, assume the whole post must be satire
