and, not to get too grand, but “crowd out instead of cut out” is just good life advice, far from the pantry. works for all kinds of changes we want to make.

This seems important
Hegseth has removed or sidelined more than two dozen U.S. generals and admirals in 9 months.

Many were pushed out with little explanation, often against top brass recommendations.

Officers linked to former JCC Mark Milley, supportive of DEI programs, or critical of Trump were frequently targeted.

the average campaign trail player likely knows more political knowledge than the bottom tier MP
Lots of politics nerds would be amazed how little lots of politicians care about political knowledge.
I say this as someone who only just realised this, but I think those of us who spend large portions of our leisure time following/commenting/joking about politics underestimate the big ways that politicians are not more successful versions of ourselves but actually a very different type of person

here's what you need to know about Jared Golden: he totally failed in the moment. he was not only wrong, he was unconcerned about immigrants, children, the elderly, handicapped people, trans people, etc. Maine can do better.

The thing about Mamdani, it’s not that he’s in the top 0.01 percent of extroverts, he’s in the top 0.01 percent of extroverts among politicians.

I’m right in the middle between introversion and extroversion, and simply watching him interact with so many people all the time exhausts me.

Of course, this is precisely why we expect law enforcement to wear badges and uniforms and show identification. Anyone could have foreseen (and many of us did) that this would be a serious side-effect of ICE's insistence on behaving like unaccountable thugs.
New: The FBI is quietly urging ICE agents to properly ID themselves in the field.

In a bulletin to law enforcement last month, it warned of criminals posing as ICE to rob, rape, kidnap—a problem it says now demands national coordination to confront.

FBI Warns of Criminals Posing as ICE, Urges Agents to ID Themselves
In a bulletin to law enforcement agencies, the FBI said criminal impersonators are exploiting ICE’s image and urged nationwide coordination to distinguish real operations from fakes.

TRUMP: No we won't.

My thought on the party "moderation" debate leans towards something that always bothers me. Policy positions go from moderate to radical in a relatively short time. Look at tariffs, for example. Gay marriage is another example. How that change happens is complicated.

Patel's girlfriend performed at Penn State last weekend. A government jet arrived at State College Regional Airport, according to its FAA registration, with an address listing the FBI HQ. The plane then flew to Nashville, where his girlfriend lives.

All on the taxpayer’s dime.
