So painful yet so powerful:

“Ma’am, would it truly bring you peace and comfort if you were to hug him?”

Tinajero embraced him and whispered something in his ear.

Judge Medrano turned away and began to weep. Media and other victims’ family members in the courtroom sobbed.

Same for engineering, especially on large complex projects. You aren’t Tony Stark in your robot garage, you are on a team, as leader or follower. Your success or failure will be about the people, especially as a leader. They did it, you just gave them the opportunity.

Breaking, as much as $460 billion given away to tax cheats in a doubled-up side deal that sacrifices a signature Biden achievement: funding for the IRS to prevent tax avoidance. Auditing brings back up to $12 for every $1 spent. Dems have now given up $41.8 billion of the IRS funding.
Unreal.

if you're applying to phd programs you should probably LinkedIn stalk the profiles of recent graduates from said program, *including* those that do not have academic jobs, to get an idea of not only what the program's placement is, but also what people who go a different path end up doing.

Routine childhood vaccination rates have been declining precipitously in recent years.

The MMR vaccine is one of the most important. Today 14 states have an MMR vaccination rate for kindergartners of less than 90%. In 2019, just 3 did.

I agree on the centrist point and frankly there are a lot of people out there who are just saying what they need to say to cover their ass and cash a check. It sucks.

The question of who is to blame for Democrats losing begins and ends with the establishment. They panic selected a 78 year old to stop Bernie Sanders in March of 2020, and then chose a Vice Presidential nominee as a favor to Clyburn.

They had zero fucking plan for 2024. It’s 100% their fault.

Every single Democrat who voted for this is not taking the threat of Trump remotely seriously and should be disqualified from any leadership positions moving forward. This is no longer business as usual. To agree to give him this kind of power is beyond egregious.
US House voted 256-145 to pass HR 9495 — short of 2/3 required.

Would empower Treasury Secretary to revoke nonprofit tax status of orgs based on judgment they're “terrorist-supporting.”

Concerns it'd help government (esp. Trump's) attack pro-Palestine groups.

52 Democrats voted in favor.
