I know there are some folks who say it’s crucial to be “civil” when discussing fellow physicians

This is why I (and I’m sure most survivors) am not getting my hopes up about some societal sea change. I know how the people running things think. If they were inclined to be reflective and accept blame, they probably wouldn’t have been able to claw their way to the top of a corrupt pile.
I promise you, even if someone is your mentor and friend, you should have the ability to say they made a mistake in FUCKING COMMUNICATING CASUALLY AND ALL FRIENDLY WITH JEFFREY EPSTEIN NOT WRITE AN EIGHT POST THREAD ON HOW WE SHOULDNT JUDGE

The problem is that a not insignificant portion of Americans would sign on for that. Maybe not explicitly, maybe not publicly, but I think the behavioural evidence is extremely clear that the median American will tolerate pretty severe corruption at baseline.
The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll
