More than one in eight families in America struggle with food insecurity. And 42 million people in our country rely on programs like SNAP to help fill those gaps.

Cutting funding for SNAP is unconscionable.

I am exhausted by the argument that buying nothing for a day will do nothing.

It is a low-stakes chance for people to decide for themselves whether they are willing to be mildly inconvenienced in solidarity with others. That is the point. It's Day 1 of a Couch to 5k. You're accountable to yourself.

How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65

Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

Oh wow, just this morning, I heard an ad for this 250th anniversary focus on NPR and was like, hmmm. Yikes on demonic bikes.
So, the National Endowment for the Arts announced today that they are reworking the guidelines for all 2026 grants and will be prioritizing projects that center the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It's now just a propaganda fund.

This, btw, is why you tell people that you're making calls, going to rallies, writing letters, making donations, organizing a phone bank, organizing mutual aid, organizing daycare or meals or pro bono lawyers for federal workers who suddenly have no income.

Apparently there’s a “kickoff” meeting between the DOGE people and Department of Labor management planned for tomorrow at 4pm ET.

Unrelatedly, the Frances Perkins Building that houses the Dept of Labor is located at 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210.

When I was Catholic, I chose Brigid as my confirmation name — I cite it as an example of how “I knew before I knew.” My intuition never fails me, and it vehemently tells me that abortion is, always has been, and always will be care. People of faith (inc. Catholics) are not excluded from that care.
We’re often asked about our name: Why “The Brigid Alliance”? Our founders named the organization after St. Brigid of Kildaire, Ireland’s patron saint of learning, healing and protection. Please join us in spreading the word – and make a donation: www.brigidalliance.org/donate2025

Even if you’re primarily a reader of physical texts, I HIGHLY suggest figuring out which of your favorite authors have the most soothing voices (to you) so you can deploy them in times of stress & anxiety. Audiobooks, lectures, interviews, whatever. My go-tos are Ross Gay & Robin Wall Kimmerer.

If you have students who are trans no you don’t. If you have students of color who may be affected by ICE no you don’t. If anyone asks you gender or racial the makeup of your class you don’t have to tell them.

Protect your class and protect your students by not complying in advance. They trust you.
1. Breaking News: Donald Trump has signed an executive order targeting trans youth and teachers in schools who teach for them.

It goes after "social transition" and threatens arrests.

I will go through line by line, as I have the last 3 nights.
