My family is 3 of those 42 million people! Bc of SNAP we can weather this period of unemployment, stay in our apartment, feed ourselves & our 2yo, and devote our time to finding full time jobs. Thanks SNAP!

I was Catholic but ended up in Evangelical purity culture group that taught “good decision making” (whatever you guess is probably correct) to middle schoolers 🫠 Honestly, the fact that people didn’t tell me to f*ck off each & every day is kind of a miracle. Glad you found your way here too!

“Very cool, very kind people” — YES. I’m forever in debt to those folks who were showed me patience, generosity, and endless curiosity. They cultivated respect bc they spoke & lived their values in very practical yet nuanced ways.

We’re on our state’s Employment-Related Daycare (ERDC) list — there are 10,000 people in front of us. 🫠 As imperfect & incomplete as the current systems are, they are MILES better than having nothing!

The best time to be vaccinated? Yesterday. The second best time? Today.

Yep — my little family (incl. our 2yo) is on Medicaid & SNAP bc my husband was laid off in Nov and my new job starts in April. I’m grateful my parents will help us if we lose benefits before then but the terror persists. Most folks I know don’t have this kind of family support/resources.

I’m typically not in the pope’s corner but in this case, I really hope this is deeply embarrassing & shameful (personally, spiritually, & publicly) to Vance. I don’t expect we’ll see any meaningful outcomes but I hope Vance falls asleep worrying that the pope doesn’t like him 🤣

Apparently there’s a “kickoff” meeting between the DOGE people and Department of Labor management planned for tomorrow at 4pm ET.

Unrelatedly, the Frances Perkins Building that houses the Dept of Labor is located at 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210.

100% — even the most able-bodied person will only get more disabled. We are all on the spectrum of ability, and almost everyone will experience disability (permanent or temporary) at some point in their life.

Prevention is great! And some companies will never “do the right thing” unless compelled by law and/or under punishment of fines & closures. OSHA exists bc of the least of companies, not the best, and that literally saves lives.

Who recognizes/can find the tune the middle guy whistled? It elicited responses from the other two, and I’m very curious about the context it might provide. Also: These three can take a very long walk off a short pier.

Super cool that billionaires & their cretin lackeys brought “move fast & break stuff” to the national stage.
