I’m generally averse to sports/politics metaphors. But…
One thing about being a fan is that you don’t abandon your team when they’re losing. Just like you don’t give up on your principles and decide that some people’s rights aren’t worth defending.

Okay, fellow #Chicago folks. Today's storm is a useful reminder that our older / disabled neighbors might need help clearing the snow from their sidewalks and stairs. You can either do it all on your own or sign up to join an organized team through the wonderful My Block, My Hood, My City.
Mostly they aren’t in classrooms so they don’t see what it’s doing. I’ve had admins assure me students aren’t using AI the way my students are.
a lot of this comes down to admins being told "being AI literate is the wave of the future" when in reality, it's primarily a way to lock in future users based on different LLM services being provided

Every single senator who voted to confirm Hegseth knew he held these views about the laws of war.

Everyone should read this terrifying thread about Hegseth’s published views wrt war crimes. It’s pretty fucking radical …. We needed to hear about this in his confirmation hearing.

Universities are assembling larger and larger teams to deal with academic integrity issues--mostly focused on AI--while simultaneously holding AI "writing" contests, AI-themed events, "hey, come play with these fun tools!" The messages are so mixed, it's criminal. Because AI is bloated with money.
