I guess the follow on to that was that Rob Ford was right. "Light rail" in Toronto is just a streetcar. There was over a decade there that those who suggested otherwise could have made it so, and yet . . .

Transit Signal Priority on ion Light Rail, Region of Waterloo, Ontario (2019).

Trains use a horizontal (stop) or vertical (go) white aspect bar, instead of red or green.

The trains follow a wave and do not stop between stations.

Toronto planners, please come here!

People sometimes say "don't complain". And the TTC has just made excuses instead of listening and showing leadership.

But advocates complained, and got a win as a result.

Shameful!! Lack of democracy... and common sense!

Brand new LRT 10Km at CAN$3.7Bn / USD$2.7Bn (auditors should look into this).
LRT with hundreds of passengers has to wait for cars with ONE person!!! NO right of way!!
Constitution says 'all people are equal.' Not here! TO/ON

The reason I'm very pessimistic about aggressive TSP in North America is that we have an engineering profession that is stuck in outdated practices and very entrenched. It's not just the car lobby. It's the very isolated professional world that fear innovation like it's cholera.

Excited, I joined someone's live stream this morning. For 60 seconds, I watched the train sit at a red light, with zero cross traffic. Then I watched a lone truck turn left. Then the lights finally turned green. Utterly brutal.

If you go to a suburban mall, you will probably have to park outside and walk in. You don’t expect to drive in to your store.

But for some reason in urban areas it’s considered an injustice if you can’t park directly in front of the store you want to go to.

Regular reminder that it makes no sense that all trains won't stop at Scarborough in the future. Hurting the GO network functioning as something other than a commuter shuttle.

Excellent article today in UrbanToronto regarding the King Street priority corridor. After 7 years of transit priority, the street remains unchanged, with no timeline for when improvements are coming. This is low hanging fruit and the city is failing big time. urbantoronto.ca/news/2025/08...
King Street: Toronto's Transit Inferiority Corridor | UrbanToronto
Long planned upgrades to Toronto's busiest streetcar line have gone off the rails once more, with anticipated improvements to the 504 King's Transit Priority Corridor notably absent from the recently rebuilt intersection of King and Church streets, and indicative of a failure to truly prioritize the street for moving people.

Trains with hundreds of riders shouldn't get stuck waiting at red lights for a few left-turning drivers. Transit Signal Priority is just common sense!

Send a message to City Council: transit riders on the $2 billion-dollar Finch West LRT should get priority over drivers!

Ah yes Ottawa. The city where we ask if the driver is okay when A CHILD IS HIT BY A CAR.

a driver?

In a two ton killing machine?

Is asked if they're okay?

In a collision with a child?

Should be charged. Even if it's an accident. I bet if the driver was driving 10km/h less this wouldn't happen
