My heart goes out to the people of Tumbler Ridge and everyone affected by the devastating tragedy in their community. We are mourning lives lost, standing with those who were injured, and holding close the families whose worlds have been changed forever.

Watching the opening ceremonies and @cbcgem.bsky.social plays at least a minute of ads OVER a legit incredible music/dance number. Kiddo says "this wouldn't happen on YouTube". My gods, what a choice, CBC.

I was joined by community leaders today to proclaim February as Black History Month. Here & across Canada, we celebrate the achievements, culture, and leadership of Black communities, past & present. We also recognize the ongoing work to confront racism, remove barriers, and ensure we all belong.

I'm stoked!
Great to tour the Glenbow Museum project and see the transformation underway. Incredible progress on a space that will celebrate art, history, and culture in the heart of our city. This investment in Calgary’s creative future is really taking shape. Can’t wait to see it open its doors.

Mayor @jeromyyyc.bsky.social helping to preview this year's Chinook Blast – Calgary's Winter Festival. He may be a self-proclaimed "winter wimp" (I don't believe it) but we agree that everything about Chinook Blast is so exciting. See you there starting Jan. 30.

🚽 Toilets are the #1 source of household leaks
💦 The average household can lose up to 67 litres per day through leaks

Small checks make a big difference for our community. Our Leader of Customer Demand Reduction, Sarah Marshall, explains more.

While this is another loss for journalism, our community still continues to gain from Robson's storytelling skills.
As they say, *ahem*, some personal news:

After 20 years in journalism, including a decade at CBC News, I'm moving on to something different.

I’m launching my own independent practice as a Data & Storytelling Strategist.

Yes, I'm giving up a stable job in order to hang up my own shingle.

Why?

In addition to our frontline crews working 24/7 to fix the pipe, I want to thank the City of Calgary comms team. They’ve been on site producing near real-time photos, videos, and clear updates so Calgarians know what’s happening and why. I couldn’t provide these updates without them.
