WATER USAGE - UNSUSTAINABLE

Calgary saw another day of water usage in the red zone. We must reduce our water consumption so emergency response services aren't compromised.

This impacts all of us, across every ward. Let's put our community spirit to work and get back to green 1/ #yyc #yyccc

Ask our Water Expert: How long do we need to conserve water?

Until repairs are completed. Our goal: 600 million litres/day in storage. Please keep saving water.

🚿 3 min showers
🚽 Flush only when needed
💧Full loads for laundry & dishes

Small choices, big impact.

This work isn’t sexy and doesn't win elections, but we can’t afford to ignore this issue. To build a city we are all proud of, we need solid foundations.

I will hold administration accountable and prioritize work that must be done. Calgarians’ lives cannot be disrupted time and time again.

The independent review of the Bearspaw South Feedermain is public.

What this report has highlighted is the massive infrastructure deficit in Calgary. My priority is to ensure that we fix and maintain the infrastructure in Ward 8 and throughout the city #yyc #yyccc

Ask our Water Expert: How to save 30L of water a day?

🚿 Cut shower time: Aim for 3 min.
🚽 Flush less: each flush = 6L. Skipping 2 to 3 saves 18L.
💧Turn off the tap: saves 6 to 8L per min.

Small choices, big impact.

Calgary we're still in the water red zone. We need your URGENT help to buy a little more time for the repair. Please do everything you can to conserve. The City has asked employees who can to work from home. Employers, please do the same to help reduce strain on our system.

If we do not reduce usage immediately, we risk running out of water for essential services. Action required to save water now:

🚿 Limit showers to 3 minutes
🚽 Flush only when necessary
🍽️ Run dishwashers and laundry only when full

As many people return to work & school today, we know that demand will spike further. Hold off on catching up on post-holiday laundry. Wash what is essential & make sure to do full loads only. Ensure your family is taking short showers and flushing only when necessary.
