Before leaving City Hall for the break, I proclaimed Christian Minority Week, recognizing the contribution of Christian minorities to building Calgary's social, cultural, and spiritual fabric. May the message of Christmas inspire compassion and reflection well beyond the season. #yyccc

Here at City Hall on Christmas Eve, we’re winding things down. As Calgarians head home, a special thank you to the essential workers working straight through to keep our city running. Your efforts matter. Wishing you peace, rest, and a Merry Christmas, Calgary.

Had a holly and jolly time at the Firefighter’s 58th annual Toy Association Christmas party with Couns. Chabot and McLean, Santa, and the Grinch! These volunteers show what Christmas in Calgary is all about: our community stepping up to support one another. #yyccc

For the first time in recent memory, Council is truly committed to collaboration and it’s delivering results. In our first 50 days, we moved to repeal blanket rezoning, invested more in public safety and transit, strengthened fiscal discipline, and lowered this year’s property tax increase.

After extensive public feedback—online and in person—the Calgary tartan monopoly has been broken 😄
Thanks to Legislature of Alberta Speaker, and former City of Calgary Alderman Ric McIver, for adding the Alberta tartan to the lineup. #yyccc

Was great to join CBC Eyeopener for their annual food bank drive. No one should be going hungry in our city, and if you are able to help out with a donation of time, food or dollars, please consider a donation to the Calgary Food Bank: www.canadahelps.org/en/charities... #yyccc

Last night, Persians celebrated the winter solstice as a time of rebirth and the victory of light over darkness. This longest night of the year, known as Yalda, is marked with poetry, family gatherings, and pomegranates: symbols of light and renewal. Shab-e Yalda Mobarak! #yyccc

After extensive engagement with provincial ministers, I enjoyed meeting with Premier Smith to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Calgarians, and how the Province and City can work together. Calgary is ready to partner on housing affordability, major infrastructure, and public safety.

I was honoured to be joined by Councillor Andre Chabot to honour the passing of former Alderman Ray Clark by lowering the City of Calgary flag to half-staff. This gesture recognizes his decades of service, his commitment to the northeast and all of Calgary, and the lasting impact of his work.

This week, it was great to meet with staff and board from the Nonprofit Chamber. Thank you for the Historic Candyland City Hall gingerbread house and, more importantly, for the work you do every day to strengthen Calgary’s nonprofit sector and the communities we serve. Merry Christmas! #yyccc

Heading in from Marlborough Station for Day 50 as Mayor. In our first 50 days, your Council team cut the tax increase to 1.6%, boosted public safety, and started to fix blanket rezoning. Looking forward to continuing to work together, listen, and deliver for Calgarians in 2026! #yyccc

Last night, our Council team stood with Calgary’s Jewish community and affirmed the city we are building.

Confronting antisemitism, defending freedom of worship, stopping intimidation, and taking responsibility for public safety.

We choose courage, unity, and light. Chag Chanukah Sameach!

Thanks to Calgary Construction Association for bringing industry and City leadership together. Great open conversation about growth, infrastructure, and the workforce needed to build Calgary’s future. Strong cities are built through partnership, trust, and a shared commitment to getting it right.

A promise made is a promise kept. Today, by a 13–2 vote, our Council team approved a motion to begin the process of repealing blanket rezoning. We’ll hold a public hearing in March to listen to Calgarians and move forward with a housing plan that works for communities, affordability, and families.

Good morning, Calgary! Heading into a big Council week. I signed the motion to begin repealing blanket rezoning because I favour a more targeted approach to building homes. If approved, this will go to a public hearing. More to come -- hope to see you at the Menorah lighting tonight! #yyccc

I'm so glad that Santa and the Grinch could make it! Loved stopping by YouthLink Calgary’s Holiday Hounds event this weekend with family crafts and (very good!) PADS dogs. Thanks to the Calgary Police Service & YouthLink team and volunteers for hosting such a welcoming Christmas event.

Great to run into one of our Peace Officer teams while out for a walk on Stephen Ave. Our 2026 budget invests $94M in downtown safety, safer transit and CTrain coverage during evening rush hour, stronger 9-1-1 operations, & support for CPS to hire officers, replace vehicles, and upgrade facilities.

Great to run into Councillors Kelly and McLean (and Sarah Meilleur from the Calgary Public Library!) at this week's Calgary Municipal Land Corporation event. Proud to now serve on the CMLC board and support the work shaping a vibrant, welcoming future for our growing city.
