The fundamental problem is that billionaires have become so powerful in the last 20 years that they are now above the law

In a word: oligarchy
there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

AI does not think, it does not lie, it does not make decisions. It is a prediction algorithm and its output is determined by who owns, trains, and controls it.

Why is X allowed to operate in Canada? Why does any public organization maintain a presence there? A combination of laziness and threats of retaliatory tariffs?

Once again violence against women is not treated as a "red line" it's disgusting

It's true. New York's very existence proves the ethnofascists wrong.

So does Atlanta. And every American city. If America will become, this will be how, by building community whether it makes sense to them or not

By loving our neighbor even if they try to make it illegal

By living well together
This is not a hard message.

Localize it.

Embrace it.

Win.

The solution is never going to be placing blame on pedestrians for being hit.

Proven solutions:
-Narrow roadways
-Short crossing distances
-Protected infrastructure
-Auto-enforcement cameras
-Pedestrian islands
-Curb bumpouts
-4to3 conversions
-Bollards
-Boulevard 🌳🌳🌳
-Speed limiters on 🚗 🚙 🛻

Pedestrians are getting struck by automobiles 3x a week in Saint Paul. It is showcase of how the city needs to place greater focus on spending available funds on its bike/pedestrian infrastructure.

The plans exist. The funds exist. The desire exists.

there used to be a place like this in the downtown eastside. the funding was cut and it closed. dignity isn’t a line item on a budget; it’s beyond any price
For an entire community of my down-and-out neighbors, this hygiene center is the only place to take a shower, wash clothes, repair a bike, or get a sweater, blanket, or hot meal…while also enjoying a little bit of community.

New research finds that car touchscreens are so distracting that they induce "significant performance degradation" among drivers.

Meanwhile, in-vehicle touchscreens remain completely unregulated in the US.

it’s crazy that provinces have a “we don’t have to follow the charter” cheat code and municipalities, which are forced to be responsible for things like ‘rampant homelessness,’ barely even legally exist. our country is set up in an insane way
