Donut: Motherfucker I did not put on all these sprinkles just to gummed on by a QUITTER

Me: You make a compelling point, donut

I know this is stupid, but the thing about Bathroom Bans I can never get over is that bathrooms are supposedly hot spots for sexual assault because genitals are present, but invisible, at those locations, which is also true of literally any place where people are gathered and wearing clothes

one of the problems with political analysis of all stripes is that it's a bunch of mostly moderately smart people for whom politics is essentially their lives trying to analyze the behavior of mostly slightly dumb people who barely think about it
the thing about being a political junkie is you have extremely difficult time conceptualizing how someone could be totally ignorant of politics but i would strongly encourage you to imagine the kind of person who googled “did biden drop out?” on november 4th and then cast a ballot on november 5th

I needed this snort-laugh.
Sorry about all the screaming, also

The bidet in this hotel room has three settings: 'soft,' 'medium,' and 'pressure-washing a soot-stained white marble piéta in one of the world's most devout yet polluted cities'

I would like to speak up today for the trans community.

You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1

I support the legal and social equality of trans people, view the ongoing hate campaign against them as evil, and support their autonomy and freedom. I know several young people who grew up with my kids who are trans and I am concerned about their well-being. /1

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

So Biden's winning independents, doing pretty okay among Dems, and most of the rest of them will come home. And I just don't see how Trump gains a single vote over 2020.

I truly do agree with this
More people would be behind him if he just started talking like this on the stump, America's really fucking tired of policy discussions

just call Trump a fucking asshole every day and watch numbers go brrrrt

This is proof of two things:
1- police departments are publicly-funded gangs
and
2- police unions should not be considered "labor organizations" so much as "racketeering schemes."
Just absolutely amazing that the police union hasn't been investigated and prosecuted. All of this corruption just out in the open www.nytimes.com/2024/01/16/n...

There's a $10,000 hotline reward for tips that help jail a cop killer, and most states automatically impose harsher penalties on those convicted. To say nothing of the fact that of course cops/DAs close these cases.

Blue Lives already mattered MORE than anyone else, but they still threw a tantrum.

Come ON.

Biden's campaign keeps linking Trump to Hitler *because Trump keeps echoing Hitler.*

The "extraordinary step" here is what Trump is doing, not Biden's response. www.politico.com/news/2023/12...
Why Biden's campaign keeps linking Trump to Hitler
The Biden campaign warns that Trump’s rhetoric — from "vermin" to "poisoned" blood — could reflect history repeating.
