I agree with everyone on my TL complaining about the costs of going to a movie theater vs. the convenience of streaming to the extent that I have no choice but to accept that the studios have made their own bed -- BUT! Stuff on Netflix looks bad. The death of a cultivated cinematic look stinks.

amount of advertising at movie theaters has been climbing because studios take almost all the box office for new movies, and then they aren't even producing enough movies to get people into the theaters as they used to. that's one of the things conglomeration has done, also "optimization" (trash).

Seeing movies in theaters is great, and it's not consumers' fault that seeing a movie in most chain theaters is a bad experience.

bsky.app/profile/kara...
If movie theaters were a thing consumers loved, they would be there. They go there for horror movies, some action blockbusters. Let me reiterate a line I wrote decades ago about the nascent digital space: Consumers have taken control of their entertainment experience & they are never giving it back.
The pandemic.
The strike.
The sale of Fox.

“.. Box office experts say 15 to 20 percent of regular moviegoers have simply never returned ..”

sure it's annoying the dodgers sign everybody but they had a legit need in their pen and Edwin Diaz seems like a pretty decent candidate to turn into a pumpkin before that deal is over so

I had committed myself to using all 10 of my votes on a shallow ballot, so I explored cases for each of my initial omissions to see whom I could talk myself into most easily.
