I use this to read things that other people write, mostly. I garden to impress my kids. It doesn’t really work.

Last year many SPS parents felt there was no choice but to accept schools would close. But we stopped it, and made sweeping changes to the board. All by convincing parents *they* were in the drivers' seat. Getting them to own their own power, and use it.

Time for transit advocates to do the same.
How transit advocates should respond when asked which parts of ST3 we would abandon to get the rest of it built

There are different things that you need to know if your income level is ~$10K a year, ~$100K a year, ~$1M a year, ~$10M a year, ~$100M a year, and $1B a year.

Financial literacy for someone that makes ~$10K a year, is: "How to apply for SNAP," and "What time do the buses stop running?"

Last big drop of ballots hits this afternoon, so we'll see if I'm right, but I think Katie Wilson is going to win (by a narrow margin).

As shown here, she needs to as well or better in the last 17% of the ballots as she did on Friday's drop. The good news is that this is pretty likely.
here's my attempt, with the red line showing where wilson would end up if she wins the same portion of remaining ballots that she won in the latest batch — it ends up being just a 0.2% margin

I cannot imagine a set of conditions that would have me give financial support to a politician or candidate that does not support removing Senate Democratic leadership.

If you want to see some wild election data, here's the breakdown for mail, email/fax, and drop box ballot returns in King County. Over 64% of ballots were returned by drop box this cycle with 185,983 ballots returned that way yesterday alone.

Katie Wilson trails Mayor Bruce Harrell in the first night tally:

Katie Wilson 53,767 votes, 46.18%
Bruce Harrell 62,086 votes, 53.32%
Write-in 580 votes, 0.50%

In WA, we vote by mail with one update daily. In Seattle, it’s not unusual for progressive candidates to start behind and pull ahead

“We chose a terrifying skull and crossbones off the wall because we were Marines and skulls and crossbones are a pretty standard military thing,” Platner said. “And then we all moved on with our lives.”

Yea. No.

In 2000, I was in the Army and I got a new soldier. He was super young (we all were) and it was his first duty station. Not long after he got there, someone reported that he had a spider web tat on his elbow which was in the Army regs as a white supremacist tattoo.

Near major metros, there’s often more than one chamber you can join.

In that case, join a chamber that does not fund PACs that attack pro-worker/pro-union policies and candidates.

In Seattle, the Greater Seattle Business Association is an alternative to the Seattle Metro Chamber of Commerce.
If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.

I’m sorry to keep bringing this up but I can’t believe the Red Sox let a player with Mookie Betts’ talent, work ethic, and baseball IQ go
Mookie Betts has won two playoff games in a row drawing bases loaded walks after the opposing team intentionally walked Shohei Ohtani.
