Dad, pedestrian, bike user, transit explorer and occasional car driver experiencing the mobility infrastructures of Seattle. *Expert in complaining*
I said it before, but this is definitively the coldest place in town. See you next year Seattle. Merry Christmas 🎄

Sometimes I wonder whether drivers even see people riding in the bike lane, or if they just ignore us.

Found one cause of Lime scooters fallen on the sidewalks: I saw a driver hit one while parallel parking and left it there…

With construction making progress here, the pedestrian detour to cross I5 at N 130th is not getting better. We now have to cross the road twice with no traffic light, cross a signal that didn’t turn to ‘walk’ when it should have, and cross a slip lane…

Pretty cool. Paris area got its first cable car: the total journey takes 18 minutes compared to around 40 minutes by bus or car, connecting isolated neighbourhoods to Paris metro's line 8.

Bring back Seattle’s electric ski train with live band dancing car

It’s good to have wide concrete-protected bike lanes, but we probably need to improve the design or signage here

Flashback to last Saturday: my daughter was very happy to go faster than the cars stuck in traffic after the event at Green Lake.
Though as a parent, the paint + plastic protection always stresses me out.

It seems the train line next to Highway 2 is still operating (at least according to Amtrak’s train status). Could WA state run emergency passenger service to offer more travel options to this area?

Highway 2 will be closed for ‘months,’ Gov. Ferguson says
The closure will block travel across Stevens Pass, one of the state’s main Cascade Mountain passes, disrupting holiday plans and commerce.

Another day, another driver causing a violent collision in Seattle.
Yikes. Heres the video (and the source, Honeyhole’s TikTok): www.tiktok.com/t/ZTrb52o8s/

Worth noting that this street has a “protected” bike lane, though these stores are close to the corner/intersection.

We need to do something about violent drivers in our cities.

HAPPENING NOW: A group of protesters have reportedly taken over the intersection on Beacon Hill where someone on a bike was killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning.

I'm not on the scene yet, but was sent this photo from Beacon Avenue and Stevens Street.

Another life lost in Seattle due to a hit‑and‑run. The intersection was improved, but in my opinion, until we enforce traffic laws and hold drivers accountable, it will be hard to achieve Vision Zero.
Just after midnight last night, a driver struck and killed a 38-year man who was riding his bike at Beacon Avenue S and S Stevens Street in a hit-and-run.

Not your typical Saturday evening at Green Lake Park

I was wondering why my wrist hurts today… then I remembered I biked over a huge pothole on Stone Way yesterday. I really thought I was going to lose control of the bike…

We have a lot of beautiful bike lanes, but this one really shines after dark

I don’t know what’s going on with drivers this week. Yes, it’s frustrating to drive in the rain, but you still need to stop at a stop sign and yield to pedestrians. This person saw multiple cars blow through the stop sign, and then one driver clearly wasn’t paying attention and could have hit her.

Serious daylighting and new speed bumps on Fuhrman Ave E between Eastlake Ave E and E Shelby St as part of Vision Zero arterial traffic‑calming measures.

Ironic that a taxi driver honked at me, while I was in the bike lane, so he could stop/park in the bike lane… in the end he had to find another spot…

“Austin Independent School District […] has documented 19 instances of Waymo vehicles "illegally and dangerously" passing the district's school buses.”
It’s not reassuring to know these are coming to Seattle…

It’s still a work in progress, but there have been good improvements on the Union St bike lane. The concrete curb and the “No Turn on Red” sign make this segment much better. The bus stop could be improved, though I know it wasn’t within the scope of this project.
December 9, 2025 at 6:15 AM
When flex posts are broken, bike lanes are completely invisible to drivers when it’s dark and rainy. I just saw 2 different drivers driving on the *protected* bike lane on Roosevelt Way NE (south of the intersection with NE 57th st)

Resharing this one from *last* year.
Whether related or not, this was the last block I biked before stopping for dinner and realizing I had a flat tire

After about 5 minutes stuck at a red light (which felt like a very long time) and multiple cycles, I decided to go against the red at this complex intersection. Cars often get green by default, but the bike lane relies on a flaky sensor across the street from a K–8 school.

I never imagined this street was meant for cars
December 7, 2025 at 2:56 AM
Crazy that the yellow curb wasn’t extended to the intersection. A few years ago, I saw a cyclist got hit at the exact same spot.
