Dad, pedestrian, bike user, transit explorer and occasional car driver experiencing the mobility infrastructures of Seattle. *Expert in complaining*
Improvements would be welcome here. I passed by this afternoon and saw 2 cars and a FedEx van parked in the bike lane… This is, in my opinion, one of the most frequently misused bike lanes in the city

Another spot where the concrete barriers have shifted.

I understand that sometimes we need to do (unplanned?) repairs, but I don’t think we’d close an entire road without any signs or detours.

We’ll have trains running on a floating bridge, but we also have trolley buses on drawbridges. First time I’ve noticed the electric‑wire management; that’s pretty cool.

The aerodynamics of a cargo bike (or the lack of them) are interesting. These days I don’t use the kid’s canopy (so the bike fits in BikeLink boxes), and while I’ve been soaked a couple of times, my kid in the back has stayed nearly dry in my slipstream.

We couldn’t join the critical mass ride yesterday, but we joined the Greenwood resistance march. It was good to see so many neighbors out in solidarity with Minnesota.

With the right design, even UPS doesn’t park in the bike lane

The gap on 5th Ave N is taken up by a gorgeous parking lot owned by Seattle Public Schools, and part of it is currently closed due to construction. This would be a great spot for a pop‑up bike lane during the World Cup

Eastlake Ave E Bike Lane: the first intersection in the video would benefit from a ‘No Right on Red’; and the second either a ‘No Turn’ restriction or the removal of parking to improve visibility and reduce the risk of right‑hook collisions

“Everyone should be allowed to carry a gun for their safety but the government can murder you in the street if you have a gun” is an incredible endpoint for the conservative moment

The 2 Line full cross-lake opening is March 28. Boardmember Balducci just pulled back the curtain.

Friend sent this to me today. It’s in Seattle. Hadn’t seen it on here yet so I figured I’d share.

A couple of days ago, while passing through a Healthy Street / Neighborhood Greenway in NE Seattle, I was impressed to see this bollard‑based modal filter (video speed 2x, I don’t bike so fast)

Seattle in January: don’t forget your sunglasses 😎 (video of Elliott Way and Alaska Way from Saturday, speed 2x)

I’ve probably posted a dozen threads about the NE 65th St bike lane, but the situation is getting ridiculous, as you can see in the video (one of the UPS vans was here for an hour). How do we get an ‘ever better bike lane’ here?

In the past a flex post was here to “protect” the bike lane. The driver seemed surprised to see me biking here

Plot twist: the bike lane doesn’t end…
For a moment I thought it might be closed because of cruise traffic, but there aren’t any cruises before April

It looks like this bike lane has shrunk again here. CC @seattledot.bsky.social : could we reposition the concrete barrier and add the missing flex posts?

Seattle City Councilmember Eddie Lin suggested, as an aside, that the city might charge more for parking if you choose to own a GIANT VEHICLE.

👏👏👏

Drivers sitting in the cabs of huge trucks and SUVs can't see pedestrians; this choice is a type of (IMO, sociopathic) traffic violence.

This is the kind of crosswalk compliance you get with presumed liability (plus a good public information campaign). SIGN IN PRO: app.leg.wa.gov/csi/House?se...
The zebra stripes in Poland have magical power that the ones in America don’t. Even on a fast divided highway, a pedestrian in the shadows, well back from the curb, can stop traffic.

Green Lake deserves better than a pitch‑black path after sunset. There’s a petition to add lights and make the park usable for everyone.

Starting the year with another broken spoke... time to visit my local bike shop...
Note to self: Don’t use the café lock to keep the bike from rolling when parked on a slope (I just broke a spoke).

I said it before, but this is definitively the coldest place in town. See you next year Seattle. Merry Christmas 🎄

Sometimes I wonder whether drivers even see people riding in the bike lane, or if they just ignore us.
