I would suggest taking the words “Complete Rebuilding” literally and seriously.

Or we can just be surprised when aerial photos show it being demolished some day.
Trump: "I have determined that the fastest way to bring The Trump Kennedy Center to the highest level of Success, Beauty, and Grandeur, is to cease Entertainment Operations for an approximately two year period of time, with a scheduled Grand Reopening that will rival and surpass anything."

Oh my god, they’re already not allowed to deport US citizens.

This is not bargaining. This is acquiescence in the face of authoritarianism.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Thursday said House Democrats will demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition of winning their support for legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

Tax and spend is far more democratic. We the people using elected officials to collectively decide where the money should go. Philanthropy on this scale is just plain oligarchy.

Important but missed in many posts. The student’s mom is a lawyer who represented J6 rioters AND the instructor who was put on leave is Trans. There was nothing random about this.
I taught composition and technical writing at OU for three years. This decision is a disgrace. If instructors are expected to treat personal beliefs as formal “evidence,” then why even bother offering courses?
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

"the essay sucks ass" is no doubt true, couldn't be bothered to read it, but consider that the essay may have been written to receive an F in order to instigate a campaign against the trans TA. in any case it's not a great dunk because this isn't about the essay, it's about purging trans ppl

Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Fascinating and thorough dive into SPS history. Looking forward to reading more (and getting angry all over again at how badly some billionaires screwed over the district).

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Yep. Politicians who mindlessly promote data centers are buying into a political liability. Data centers are even worse than the old 'subsidize my factory' scam, creating fewer jobs and draining local water & energy supplies, problems that will get increasingly worse under Trump's bad policies.
my latest: i spent weeks investigating how frustrations about data centers were about to swallow american politics…

…and then the 2025 election happened, proving the electoral impacts are already here.

There is no difference between Trump destroying the East Wing and using a wrecking ball on the Washington Monument or Smithsonian. Just because he (temporarily) lives there doesn't give him the right to demolish the White House without Congressional approval.

I’ve seen posts claiming this “truth” is evidence of dementia, but IMO that’s not the right frame. This is strategy. Since 2021, the right has been rewriting history, bending timelines, to connect their grievances (Covid) and conspiracy theories (Jan 6, censorship, etc) to the Biden administration.
That’s a nice trick, since Biden wasn’t the president on Jan 6.

And there will literally be no answer! Trump felt like it. That's it.

He argued in a way that got trans folks, Black folks, immigrants, disabled folks doxxed, harassed, stalked, harmed, abused, killed.

That is NOT civility

And you, defending this, are neither civil nor respectable. You're enabling fascism. That makes you an abuser too.
He argued with civility. It's a start.
What disagreements, exactly, was he bridging via his work and words?
