Curious to hear other's thoughts about it but this seems like the most judicially conservative way to dismiss the case.
BREAKING

At this point I'm not sure the median congressman can even imagine wielding power.

Cracks me up how you could just replace Venezuela and Venezuelans with Iraq and Iraqis and it’d be indistinguishable from something written in 2002

In my line of work you can't choose your clients but you always have to come up with something to say, so part of the job is sometimes making arguments that you know aren't gonna convince anybody. 1/2
Yesteady a colleague I hadn’t spoken to in a while, once a Reagan Republican, called me asking to explain why the Comey indictment had gone the way it did. He’s an ex-AUSA too. Why would they do it this way and not the right way, he was asking. There must be a strategic explanation.

Look, it’s unlike me to say something like this — and, frankly, a bit embarrassing — but I want to hear less about these people’s terrible decisions, loose morals, and weird sex stuff and more about this.

you will never understand politics if you cannot accept that *some people want bad things*. not because they've been tricked, not because Capital has manipulated them, because they *have bad values*

Please we need to have a more sophisticated analysis than "capital wants this" in 2025 for the love of god.

We are doing like 2 trillion in green investment annually. Lot of resistance to transition is frankly big state actors (saudi, russia, india) and confluence of tech/media interests
You ever just sit down and realize that the rise of 21st century fascism is capital's answer to climate change?

The official position of the United States government is that swastikas aren't hate symbols and displaying a Pride flag is a fireable offense.

This is not ambiguous signaling.
State-sponsored discrimination encourages private discrimination.
Exclusive: The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika, nooses and the Confederate flag as hate symbols.

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

They lied about it. All of it. A thug cop shot an unarmed woman five times without justification, boasted about it to his colleagues, and then this administration tried cover it all up by arresting her and charging her with felonies.
Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.

Telling a very provable lie in a submission to the court in a criminal prosecution of someone *else* for lying!

Comey should include this in his vindictive prosecution memo as a similar case where the government declined prosecution

There are a lot of things in criminal law that you can theoretically do as a defendant but that essentially never work in practice because they require outlandish facts. Lindsey Halligan is trying to make every one of those things happen in a single case.
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

This always looked like a wildly corrupt prosecution but it is so much worse than it originally appeared

Its popular on this site to blame everything for Trumps return on Merrick Garland, but if it werent for the singular interetence by John Roberts on Trumps behalf, Trump would have been tried and almost certainly convicted over Jan 6th in late summer/early fall before the election.
Chief Justice John Roberts rigged our democracy, helped Trump retake power, and is now discarding legal and constitutional constraints on Trump's actions.

But Roberts needs Trump, too. This symbiotic relationship means there is no hope for course correction.

This is all John Roberts’ fault
Trump owes his corrupt and abusive reign to one man.
