Huge congrats to Dr. Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard on being elected as Georgia’s next Public Service Commissioners. As Trump raises utility costs, this is a huge deal. They are the FIRST non-federal statewide Democrats to win in Georgia in nearly 20 years.
Democrats have flipped two Georgia Public Service Commission seats from red to blue in the first win for GA Democrats at the nonfederal statewide level since 2006.

The Georgia Public Service Commission plays an instrumental role in determining energy policy for the state.

I do not think it is possible to believe that what we do is important at all if you are unwilling to even consider these questions. I repeat that as far as I'm concerned, what Kreis, Bernick, and Gowder have done is something to celebrate and aspire to. This stuff matters.
I am convinced that a few folks did not like our birthright citizenship essay because it held a mirror up to the legal academy itself. We asked about the research process. And we examined the relationship between process, timing, motivations for short-circuiting process, and the scholarly mission.
There’s a fundamental dispute in the legal academy about what scholars ought to do, methodically and rhetorically. I don’t feel comfortable on either “side.” But the more I talk to ppl, the more I see how deep it is and how there’s no way around fractured relationships. I’ll have to live with that.

Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky sharply disagreed with a decision by Gov. Gavin Newsom of California to host Steve Bannon on Newsom’s new podcast this week, saying Bannon’s voice should not be elevated “on any platform ever, anywhere.”

The Mayor Office's announcement fulfills a key demand from the astroturfing NIMBY group Better Atlanta Transit and developer Portman Holdings just days after Dickens launched his reelection campaign.

Since the 2016 passage of the More MARTA referendum, exactly zero projects promised have opened!

Mr. Sood's death was not only tragic, but entirely preventable. I'm proud to join alongside CM Farokhi to not only demand the restoration of this crossing, but for Atlanta to reinvest in the Peachtree shared street experience that was promised to our citizens long ago.

Resurfacing the road, putting in extra wide car lanes, and not including a cycle track… which would connect two disjointed cycle tracks on the *same road blocks away from one another* was a mistake. @westmorelandatl.bsky.social @jasondozier.bsky.social @andreforatlanta.com

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens' unilateral decision to dismantle Shared Peachtree Street, a move that wasted millions in regional funding and ignored near-unanimous downtown business support, has claimed its first life.

I hold a lot of disdain for the people who didn’t see this coming given P2025 but it does seem like the actual support for these goals is nonexistent, everyone who voted for him did so under the incredibly stupid assumption that he wouldn’t do this

This is a good writeup, but something is missing.

All talk about "fixing the streetcar" needs to include the urbanism on the route. There's far too much land occupied by empty buildings & parking & unbuilt lots within two or three blocks of streetcar stops.

You can the pedestrian-safety projects from the "Moving Atlanta Forward" tax we approved in 2022 listed here:
www.atlantaga.gov/home/showpub...

and here:
atldot.atlantaga.gov/maf-dashboard

But you won't see them on the actual streets. Is ATL DOT incompetent? Understaffed? We need to know.

My lawyer hot take is that the lawyers defending the birthright citizenship EO should be driven from the practice. They shouldn't know a day's rest and should never get to practice law again.

Can anyone confirm this report about Muchacho?

Firing staff for not coming to work on a day when MARTA buses aren't running due to icy roads 🤬 I don't know if any of the staff are transit dependent but it's the principal that matters. If conditions are too bad even for pro drivers, have a heart.
