40-something male with a career, family, and strong opinions. Really just another Twitter refugee like the rest of you (but please don’t construe anything I say on here with a modicum of anonymity as attorney advertising or legal advice)!
Somehow, the neocons who started a war in Iraq under false pretenses are the Republicans who make me least uncomfortable right now. What the hell is going on?
Kennedys are bad Matt Drudge is good what’s next the ghost of Donald Rumsfeld returns to say send them to The Hague

Where have all the libertarian conservatives who voted for Trump gone? If you believe in a small and constitutionally limited government as your guiding principle and voted for our felon POTUS, you deserve to feel guilty about what you did
In the current moment: Pugnacious progressives > cringing centrists.

Best of all, but a bit hard to find: Pugnacious centrists.

On board with ending ICE as we know it and limiting immigration enforcement to ports of entry, areas within literal spitting distance of the border, and felons being released from prison within literal spitting distance of said prison
Mr. Civility himself calling for a general strike, Bill Kristol calling for ICE to be abolished, and GMU libertarians posting like they want to get the GC subpeonaed. We are 83 days in.
i am going to Lose My Fucking Mind if the seed crystal for an antifascist general strike ends up being david fucking brooks

Sizzler. 80s and 90s commercials stick forever
I already gave my answer in the thread, but this made me think

When you hear "salad bar" what is the first restaurant you think of?
None. Zero.

I’m sure 99% of the people that follow me have no idea what the Applebee salad bar joke means, but he actually said Obama could not relate to the person standing at an Applebee’s salad bar, when Applebee’s does not even have a salad bar

I am all about keeping cases out of federal court. Raise the amount in controversy for diversity jurisdiction to $7.5 million and repeal CAFA!!!
Republicans in Congress have been 100 percent cool with the Trump admin stealing their power over funding but they remember it real quick when it comes to the idea of eliminating federal courts:

"We got money, spending, the appropriations process to help try to address some of this."
Speaker Mike Johnson floats eliminating federal courts as GOP ramps up attacks on judges
Republican lawmakers are setting their sights on the judiciary following court rulings that have halted Trump's agenda.

Border security and mass deportation are different things. There’s a lot more support for the former than the latter. Most people don’t want unauthorized persons and things crossing the border, but also don’t feel like tanking our economy or ruining working people’s lives for racist reasons

Bannon’s “flood the zone” strategy works pretty well if we’re honest about it
I regret to inform you but the vast majority of people are not going to remember or think about a government shutdown from 2024 when they head to the ballot box in 2026
Republicans are so good at running face first into a wall.

Adeel Mangi not being confirmed summarizes so much about how the Democrats’ current leadership is totally fucking up. We witnessed real-life employment discrimination in the US Senate based on national origin and religion, and Manchin, Sinema, and Rosen participated in it without consequence
This letter from Adeel Mangi (who was nominated to the Third Circuit) to President Biden is worth reading.

"The unfortunate fact remains: we have a fundamentally broken process for choosing federal judges. This is no longer a system for evaluating fitness for judicial office."

It’s fun how both “the cops caught somebody” and “the cops failed to catch somebody” are political fodder for “give the cops more money”

I would not have sold this man out for a $50k reward. The lawyer in me feels sick that some poor fast food worker lost what may have been his best shot at a major payout in life without anything bad having to happen to him

It’s not a loophole. It’s basic finance. And every team gets the same damn AAV discount on the CBT value for deferrals. The Padres have been over the luxury tax before and pay deferred money like everyone else
The article mostly quotes the GM from the team exploring the loophole, and the agent benefiting from the loophole.

And this is supposed to help fans understand the loophole is no big deal. Got it.

Can’t handle the faux outrage on the other site about the Hunter Biden pardon. All he really did was buy a gun while coked out. That’s as Republican of a crime as there is!

Also, these are guys who should only get in by the Veterans’ Committee if at all. Let the other players in the Hall make the decision instead of the baseball writers
If Barry Bonds isn’t in the Hall of Fame, Carlos Beltran shouldn’t be either
new @fangraphs.com: Next up in my BBWAA ballot series is Carlos Beltrán, whose 10.6% gain (to 57.1%) was the largest of any returning candidate. Now in his 3rd year of eligibility, he appears likely to be elected somewhere down the road.
November 26, 2024 at 9:26 PM
This is the only correct take. Beltran was a ringleader of a cheating scheme so that he could win a World Series ring before retiring. He got greedy and got caught. Not going into the Hall of Fame is a fair penalty. Waiting a few ballots isn’t enough—it regularly happens to unblemished players!

Gaetz is somehow the least horrible of these three to me, keeping in mind that he had drugged commercial sex with an underage girl in front of people. He’s not accused of forcibly raping anyone and is less likely than the other two to cause mass death through violence or disease
To review:

ATTORNEY GENERAL: Allegedly paid for sex with multiple women and a 17-year-old girl

SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: Allegedly raped a woman at a conference in 2017

SECRETARY OF HHS: Allegedly sexually assaulted his kids’ baby sitter

The Democrats have never lost an election cycle during a Trump presidency. They won in both 2018 and 2020. They’ll probably win in 2026 and 2028. It’s just really unfortunate that ignorant and misinformed people have so much impact on election outcomes

Democrats should trust Bernie’s instincts and respectfully tell Biden to fuck off. Bernie is offering a solution that appeals to progressives, America First conservatives, Arabs, Muslims, and left-wing Jews who don’t want to see $20 billion from US taxpayers used on weapons for ethnic cleansing

I wish this app had the polling feature. I’m curious about the percentages of liberals who are registered Democrats versus independents who vote for Democrats. I’m in the latter category because the team pisses me off, but I still root for the team
