A really old trick conservatives use is to accuse liberals of supporting an idea that would make sense under liberal values but that liberals don't actually support for tactical reasons. So you face a choice of either accepting the false accusation or you argue against your own values.
Saw a CBS ghoul trying to hound Hakeem fucking Jeffries about whether “illegal aliens get the ACA subsidies” by reasking the question multiple times after Jeffries said it wasn’t true. You’d think he was interviewing a Nixon staffer about watergate.

This is a demonstration of how powerful the right wing misinformation machine is. They take a phrase or a word some Democrat said, attach the worst possible interpretation to it, and repeat their view of it THOUSANDS of times until even liberals remember it the way conservatives want them to.
I’ve heard Ezra now twice take one part of Hilary Clinton’s “deplorables” speech, without mentioning the rest of it, which does exactly what Ezra calls for Dems to do. I recognize that we have a politics of sound bits, but in full context the speech hits differently than he suggests.

Scariest part isn’t the lies but his insistence that Moran accept his lies. Trump makes clear his quid pro quo, by giving him the interview, he wouldn’t push back. Moran then won’t say that Trump is lying or even wrong. Clearly guidance not to challenge him. Chilling moment for ABC and free press.
