Relapsing on my social media habit. I want to see a robust victorious leftist movement in the US. Big Tech hasn’t had a good idea since Usenet.

Been thinking about this a lot lately. (From the sourcebook, The Lodz Ghetto, something I read in a Holocaust Lit class many years ago but that remains incredibly relevant)
Definitely read this thread for the substantive analysis, but I’m sorry the image immediately lost me with the room labeled “coat bath”
Okay, lets break down this image!
Background; I have a masters in architecture, and I have worked for a firm that specialized in custom built, detached family homes, which is what this is obviously supposed to be. I also worked for a firm drafting custom high end kitchens.

So lets analyze this...

Honestly to improve people’s lives in American cities you will have to piss off: merchant associations, some labor unions, neighborhood associations and some liberal nonprofits.

If you’re unwilling to piss all of these people off at different junctures you’re not fit for public office imo

i think that we should charge even people who have been pardoned, because there is no conceivable way the founders intended the pardon power to permit the executive to order people to commit crimes and then pardon them for them

Interesting new working paper that studies chains of movers after the construction of a new apartment building in Honolulu.

Paper finds that the project resulted in the opening up other, lower cost, housing on the island, benefiting the housing market overall.

‘Remigration’ is a term that comes out of the European far right. Its use by the DHS account is a sign of democratic and epistemic collapse

Mass pardons are coming. There will be no accountability without treating those as null and void. And that means a future administration taking an official position that Trump is not the legitimate president right now because he is disqualified by the 14th Amendment. The two things are inextricable.

Whenever you advocate for being "tough on crime," whenever you support "crime free ordinances" or mandatory minimums or harsh prisons, whenever you support imperialism...you support the same racist, predatory ideologies that create more Trumps.

Cull the Democratic Party. Systematically chip away all the weak, corporate centrists and corrupt, gutless elected officials who refuse to fight and instead suck at the teat of the oligarchy.

Ah yes, “failing to feed the troops,” something that has never historically been a regime-limiting move
NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:
US Army Tells Soldiers to Go to German Food Bank, Then Deletes It
The initial 'Shutdown Guidance' for the US Army Garrison Bavaria included instructions to go to German food banks.

we must frame tonight as a resounding victory — an electoral landslide, a mandate from the universe itself

and as a repudiation of MAGA, of Trump, and of vichy democrats

we must be relentless, we must not shut up

685,000 NYPD stops on the predicate of collecting guns. Only 2% produced weapons. 85% of stops involved Black & Latino men. 3 terms with Bloomberg. Now these same wealthy New Yorkers insist that young & working class voters defer to the alleged “superior” judgment of the millionaires & billionaires.
The hundreds of thousands of Black & Latino men who were subjected to stop-and-frisk did not have the option to “leave NYC.” They endured the reign of Bloomberg - the beloved choice of elite New Yorkers - who even supported changing the law to give Bloomberg a 3rd term.

A good sentiment, but actually backwards—NYC is more of a heartland than Montana or Kansas. More Americans live here now than have ever lived in either of those states. We have created more Americans—more America—by birth and by choice, in the last hundred years than they will in a thousand.
“Real America” of course includes that which Republicans claim it is: the Midwest, the small towns, Texas, etc. But it also includes the coasts and big cities, Hawaii, etc. All of America. And NYC is a heartland, just as much as Montana and Kansas.
