It’s not going to be enough to shrug as we reluctantly watch AI inveigle its way into every corner of our lives. It will require people and institutions to actively refuse it, while pointing out what of ourselves we trade away for its apparent convenience.
Love to see community action against this AI nonsense! neighborhoodview.org/2025/11/13/d...

Liberals landing on Net Zero. The Age
November 13, 2025 at 9:10 AM
An already weak leader being undermined from within. It’s only a matter of time before the Gina faction tries to oust her. Australia does not want Trump lite.
Subtext:
- I gave in because Hastie was coming for my job
- we're saying we'll stick with Paris, even though it's a meaningless gesture
- we'll say 'affordable energy' a lot, but our position would make energy more expensive
- I'll be lucky to last till January.

Part of me wants to celebrate, because they're awful, and this will destroy them, but:

1. Many people still agree with them.
2. It's not funny, the science is clear, it's an existential issue.
3. It just makes life even easier for Labor, another ecocidal party.

Liberals pave way to ditch net zero and settle infighting
Months of bitter infighting between Liberals over the party's climate policy could be drawing to a close, with MPs paving the way for net zero to be formally abandoned at a shadow ministry meeting on ...

Nationals to send net zero hardliner into talks with Liberals

It’s time to put this myth in the bin where it belongs.
Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Time to hold the purveyors of AI accountable.
Six people died from tampered Tylenol and the company pulled 30 million bottles off the market. ChatGPT is accused of urging seven people towards suicide, and OpenAI just assures us they’re still working out the kinks. Billions in investment, zero accountability.
OpenAI faces 7 lawsuits claiming ChatGPT drove people to suicide, delusions
OpenAI is facing seven lawsuits claiming ChatGPT drove people to suicide and harmful delusions even when they had no prior mental health issues.

It is all very dubious. I think Australians need to be aware of what their politicians represent particularly if church, corporations and other nations are involved. Time to be informed and involved in politics before we are swept up in Trumpian shenanigans.
"It is tricky to determine whether Andrew Hastie’s Fundamentalist Christianity or his global networking with Trumpist forces should worry Australians more"

If Andrew Hastie becomes Liberal leader, says @lucyham.bsky.social, it will be for "the Christian Nationalist and ethnostate faction". #auspol
Murdoch’s culture warriors are interlinked with the Atlas Network & national conservatism more and less officially. Rita Panahi is pushing Atlas partner affiliate Jacinta N Price with natcon-ish Andrew Hastie as a ticket. This is part of Murdochista’s job. #Auspol open.substack.com/pub/lucyham2...

One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.

The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.

But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.

Money to prop up the regime in Argentina. No problem. Trump also wants to pay himself $230 m from government coffers for his own hurt feelings. He is more than fine however to let the American people go hungry.
Being on SNAP benefits for 17 years, I've NEVER been told I wouldn't be paid my benefits. NEVER. What is going on is BEYOND cruel. The ppl w/disabilities, ppl w/chronic illnesses & cancer, seniors already isolated, the 16M hh's w/children. WE REFUSE TO BE A NUMBER. WE ARE PEOPLE. WE DESERVE DIGNITY.

I did however have some expectations for Labor - and I now feel completely betrayed.

I truly didn’t think they would be this bad.

This outrageous payday for Musk shows us where our future is headed.
Elon Musk’s new pay package would feed all forty million Americans on SNAP for the next ten years. He wouldn’t notice the difference but the country would.

Can journalists stop labelling politicians like Hastie, Joyce, Canavan, and Antic as "conservative".

They are the opposite:
radical right misogynist ideologues following American christo-fascist campaigning to strip women [and anyone else who isn't a straight white man] of their rights. #auspol
