The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

it's important to remember that the reason they're lying like this is to justify the ongoing and coming right-wing violence

there is no significant left-wing violence in the united states. all these white guy terrorist shooters are right-wing
White House Deputy Press Secretary seen here posting data showing how much more prevalent right wing domestic terrorism is than left wing domestic terrorism... while thinking she's showing the reverse.

Apparently she can only read headlines, but not the actual graph with the data.

OK folks. Don't do this. The reason we try to give vaccines for potentially sexually transmitted diseases at 12 is *because* it is before most people will have been exposed. Do not sexualize that guideline, even if you hate the current dipshit please. Not helping.

unpopular take, but complaints from the left about how Dems being anti-palestine enabled this are the same as takes from the center about "cancel culture" enabled this. the GOP is doing this because they wanted to, not because of what someone else did.

The reason they’re going to take up such an insane amount of space is that the city wants to dedicate them to each building (vs. international best practice of having them be city-owned and shared), and only collect 3x/week (vs. up to 14x/week in Barcelona).

When you drive a car, it's hard to see others doing it, but when walking or biking, you see so many drivers playing with their phones that it's absolutely alarming.

It’s absolutely impossible to think this is the result of good faith legal analysis, especially when they refuse to provide any reasons!
According to this Supreme Court, President Biden's Department of Education was exceeding its power by trying to forgive peoples' student loans.

President Trump, on the other hand, has the power to just completely dismantle the entire Education Department.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court allows the Trump administration to move forward with the abolition of the Department of Education. It gives no explanation for its order. All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

When Republican voters surprise pundits, there's always a spate of opinion pieces arguing that we must take the time to understand the wants and desires of said voters. Apparently, when Democratic voters do it, the response is to say they're unserious people who need to grow up. Interesting.

i'll take this a step further and say the smaller and more regionally important the city they're afraid of, the more embarrassed they should be. what do you mean you don't want to get out of your car driving through Tulsa
We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

Exactly this. The point of the FBI Director having a ten-year term was so that it would cut across presidential terms. "Trump announces FBI pick" is not a normal thing.
This is what has me so crazy about Kash Patel. Everyone has jumped right to the merits of Patel and no one has even paused to say, “Presidents don’t get to fire the FBI director without paying a huge political price.”
There seems to be a vast under-appreciation for the lines we’ve crossed and the world we’re in.

Trump’s win has basically put us in a post-rules world.

People in power don’t feel constrained by rules and any remaining checks don’t feel empowered to be checks.

This reality has not set in yet.

Recently upzoned areas are often among the more diverse neighborhoods in a city, and the reason is fairly obvious: the profile of a young professional renter or first-time homebuyer in the 2010s is far more diverse today. (Ditto for new suburbs, by the way.)
in 1990 seattle grabbed swaths of land to upzone hoping to create 100k homes. the debate that upzones cause displacement is a myth. over the next 30 years, the black population cratered in single family zoned areas and grew where housing growth was allowed. density has saved our city’s diversity
