I say this not at all to downplay the very real horror of this moment, but this was always going to be the natural endpoint of the "Cop City" institutionalization

Agents in D.C. are arresting hundreds of people every night. But the basic public accountability for those arrests is not happening. The agencies are not generating initial incident reports for their arrests, and are concealing their identities. MPD is not releasing arrest data.

Oh look, Cop City being used as a fascist training ground just like everyone said it would.
As ICE hires 10,000 new officers as part of President Trump’s efforts to speed up deportations, NBC News’ Julia Ainsley spoke to the acting ICE director inside a training center in Georgia.

We are pleased to report that a court has dismissed the terrorism charges against one of the RICO defendants in the #StopCopCity trial, citing the prosecutors' intentional delaying tactics.

Indeed—the entire case is simply judicial persecution. Throw out all the charges.

It's been nearly two and a half years since 23 people were charged with domestic terrorism at a Stop Cop City music festival. But they haven't been indicted. One of those people, Jamie Marsicano, will appear in DeKalb County Court on Wednesday to argue that her charge should be dismissed.

It didn't get 1/100th the attention of what happened in NYC, but in Reno today, a gunman opened fire in the valet parking area of a big casino. He killed three people and injured three others, including a cop. This happens every day in America, red and blue.

It's not the city. It's the guns.

Only one candidate is talking about police reform. It ain't the current mayor. Or Cuomo.

Adams is a former cop who expanded the NYPD. Boasts about creating "Cop City". The NYPD is the largest municipal police force in the US. ~36k uniformed officers.

And yet, this happened anyway.
Monday’s mass shooting may put concerns over gun violence back on voters’ minds, and have already lead some to scrutinize Mr. Mamdani for his views on policing. “He clearly does not understand what public safety is all about,” said Cuomo w/ @emmagf.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/07/29/n...

City Council and the Maryland Legislature have begun the process to approve CopCityBaltimore. The State spent $450,000 tax dollars on the design of Cop City. With historic lows in crime and Trump budget cuts, we ask what is the justification to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a Cop City?

I said for much of last year that Georgia's draconian prosecutions against Cop City protesters were extremely problematic for the First Amendment and augured poorly for the rest of us.

Now Trump is following that same playbook.
we are going to see more and more conspiracy and terrorism charges for protest activity of all kinds.

and one of the parties we have to thank for that is Atlanta Democrats, who have mercilessly led the charge to cast stop cop city protestors as “domestic terrorists”
BREAKING: The US Justice Department is examining whether student protests at Columbia University over the genocide in Gaza violated federal terrorism laws, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said today.
