I absolutely love this movie. 2 minutes of crazy inventiveness in just this clip, and the whole movie just builds more and more. You wouldn’t believe what happens even if you saw the first 15 minutes.

I get asked a lot how to improve drawing skills and my advice has always been:

- learn 1p, 2p, 3p grids & how to use them. 98% of the time why artists get stuck is bc they're guessing at perspective

- get in the habit of completing full body poses. get used to thinking what the whole body is doing

This hits on the real danger of generative AI: not that it can ever equal a truly competent and creative human's work but that its output can be middling enough to meet the frequently already dialed in expectations for mediocrity that are typical of so many sectors of modern life
As was true with the translators I heard from in an earlier edition, copywriters never felt that they were being replaced because the AI's work was better. It was almost always worse. It was simply cheaper and faster, and deemed "good enough" by clients.

Aw man I love seeing this thing made the rounds again, drawn because I was tired of seeing historically inaccurate Luteces smut 😌🙏🏼
"concept artists can experiment with AI to make their lives easi-"

wrong

I smack you with Claire Hummel's immaculate and detailed understanding of costume design, which she got by studying historical references, which made her strong, which you will not become by relying on AI

get good

Love this — organ tuners as accidental climate historians
NEW: Organ tuners have been leaving temperature and humidity records in little-known books for decades. 🎹

They reveal how temperatures inside churches have changed over time due to climate change and increased heating.

A new scoop for The Reengineer!

Church organ tuning records mirror our warming climate
The records appear to reflect climate change, as well as the increased heating of churches in winter

I don't get how people don't realize that a technology that replaces junior and entry level positions in a field destroys that field.

There's no skipping steps. You have to be a junior before you can be a senior, and if you don't have senior people, you don't have a field.
Remember, kids: A real big goal of "AI" is to entirely sever capital from labor, and no, there will be no universal basic income, you can all just starve and die, thanks

www.axios.com/2025/08/26/a...
AI is already taking jobs away from entry-level workers
Software and customer service are most at risk right now and could be the canary in the coal mine.

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

You don't need to be able to read every pore and eyelash on a character's face for "good" graphics. You need good art direction and design. Those are what ensure your game still looks striking and memorable even decades later.
When you consider that this beauty runs on 25 year old hardware, the possibilities for us are still endless.

I find it pretty weird that the people who are the first to spread hate against migrants because "they steal your jobs and women" are the first ones to outsource your job to AI, and also now your girlfriend is a chatbot.
it does not require a super genius to predict that people will start hating you if you spend a lot of time telling them that you’re coming for their jobs and careers
