Whenever I hear comic creators talk about what an ‘honor’ it is to work on this character or that IP, this sort of quote is what my mind flashes to. These publishers want you to think that it’s an honor to compromise your work and get screwed over. Don’t buy into that.
Here's something Len Wein told me for a Marvel oral history I wrote in 2009.
![Len Wein: I have not seen a dime off of any of the Marvel stuff. Nor do I have a credit on the Wolverine film. Hugh [Jackman] is a lovely man, and I was invited to the premiere, and it was a huge Hollywood crowd. Hugh went up in front of the audience to thank the cast and crew, and then called me out and made me stand up and told the entire room that he owed his career to me, and he told me to take a bow. It was very gratifying, very touching and very nice.
