The Republicans want to make ICE—an org dedicated to extrajudicial kidnapping and imprisonment—bigger than the USMC. At the same time, they want the power to strip *anyone* of citizenship and thus of any right to due process under this administration. Calling them Nazis isn’t hyperbole.
I can understand this reluctance but I do not agree with it.
Nazi Germany was not a mass-extermination state from the get-go. It should not be beyond the pale to raise concerns about a reactionary regime heavily investing in capturing and detaining people who are labeled invading enemies.

It's interesting because despite Hungary's much-touted Orbanist pro-family and supposedly fertility-inducing policies, such as exempting families with 3+ kids from all income taxation, the Hungarian fertility rate has plummeted right into the toilet in the last few years

With Yoon removed from office today, by my count that makes 34 democratic leaders convicted since 2010. Only one—Trump—faced no real consequences. Trump's actions weren't uncommon. What was exceptional was how our institutions failed to hold him accountable.
