just anecdotally, the idea that Iranians yearn for the West to topple the regime may have had some truth to it before the Iraq war. now everyone understands that it just means death, misery, and destruction.

Not a single international cargo ship at the Port of Seattle. The port is dead. The last ship from China will dock at a West coast port on the 29th, and the last Chinese ship will dock on the East coast around May 10th. After that, there will be no more shipments arriving from China. We’re screwed.

what replaces due process under fascism is the assurance of protection for favored groups. even though it’s precarious, a lot of people feel just as protected under that framework as they do under one with due process
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

Biblically accurate Schumer
Schumer’s fundamental problem is that he acted as a sin-eater for other Senate Dems but overestimated his capacity and is now a bloated, swollen thing of sin that Democratic eyes cannot stand to look upon.

UPDATE: The death toll has risen to 232 following dozens of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.
