Also, they clearly want a nationwide abortion ban.

Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

About Teen Vogue,
I don't read or care much for a lot of mainstream media, but Teen Vogue is the only consistent non-Native media outlet that has always done an incredible job reporting on Native issues and giving our talent a platform to shine and not just to fill their "diversity" quota.

The EPA is picking and choosing who gets to work during the shutdown: "virtually everyone who is working to undo marquee Biden-era regulations for air pollution, climate change and
water quality is still on the job."

This is, to put it mildly, not normal.

Constitutional checks-and-balances were designed to prevent a president from "doing anything" they want. It's fundamental and without it we are not a democracy and completely outside the constitutional order.

This is absurd. I’ve seen fewer LEOs present when heads of state are staying and being protested against at the Four Seasons down the street.
This guy's a vet and a lawyer who threw a sandwich and offered to turn himself in, so they sent a paramilitary platoon with a camera crew.

They have FBI and U.S. Marshal badges; apparently those agencies do no real work beyond camera stunts, harassing minorities, and filling concentration camps.
The White House posted an insane video of the police arresting the sandwich guy in a safe and wealthy neighborhood.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

if constitutional rights only apply to individuals or states that have sued for relief, you don't actually have constitutional _rights_, you have _privileges_ that can sometimes (but not always) be secured for you by your lawyer
The upshot of this decision, for now, seems to be exactly the crazy patchwork scenario we were warned about:

- the lower-court injunctions continue to protect the parties (immigrant orgs, individuals and 22 states) from Trump's EO
- the EO can (and will) be enforced in the other 28 states

ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds.

He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings.

He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights.

This is political intimidation.
Whoa! NYC mayoral candidate and current city Comptroller Brad Lander seemingly arrested at the NYC immigration court while attending to escort someone attending their hearing.
Lander just got detained by federal agents as he tried to escort a man out of the courtroom. Lander was taken in an elevator with masked agents, along with one member of his NYPD security detail.
