Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

2025 watch #1: Wicked. This is as if BookTok became sentient and made a film. The green and pink Stanley cup of movies, the Starbucks of cinema, the cultural lowest common denominator for a country that just reelected a disgraced reality TV star president. No gravity defied here.

@schiff.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov now is the time to make some good trouble. I know this is not a true “filibuster” but he’s calling the GOP and Drumpf out. We are not in normal times. Now is not the time to play nice.
Booker is rip roaring mad, this is the *exact* tone people have been begging Dems to take, so of *course* people are pooh-poohing it.

By the way, as of 8 AM this morning, Booker is *still* filibustering. He's reading fan mail right now.
Senator Booker: What kind of man is in the white house that makes fun of the disabled, who lies so much that the fact checkers lose count, that minimizes the pain and the suffering

@schiff.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov hope you take some cues from this
More of this please
Cory Booker has taken the Senate floor and plans to filibuster as long as he’s physically able to protest the complete disregard for the rule of law by Trump and Musk.

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

By 18, this man had survived falling down a 3 floor staircase, swallowing needles and acid he'd mistaken for milk, suffocating varnish fumes, serious burns, and a large brick being dropped on his head. Neighbours called him 'the ghost child'.

Just a reminder that the Nazis gained power because businesses just fell in line
TikTok’s full embrace of Donald Trump, who once tried to ban the app, shows:

A) How good Trump is at politics
B) How terrible Dems are at politics
C) How thirsty tech oligarchs are to win favor with Trump
D) All of the above
New statement from TikTok: "In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties..."

My unpopular take: this case is actually a triumph of the rule of law.

An incredibly powerful man with effectively infinite wealth was tried and convicted of felonies, despite massive pressure from other powerful people.

It’s not the legal system’s fault that the US then elected him President.
President-elect Donald Trump received no jail time, fines or probation at his sentencing on Friday after being convicted in May of 34 felonies related to hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels. bit.ly/4h8JtF4
