I usually share a new Palestinian account every day but today I am going to do a thread of people I’ve already verified impacted by the recent flooding in Gaza. If you can help any of these families- many who lost everything again- please do. edition.cnn.com/2025/11/14/m...
Heavy rainfall floods the camps of displaced Palestinians in Gaza | CNN
Displaced Palestinians in Gaza woke up Friday morning to inches of water flooding their tents, after heavy rainfall overnight left their shelters and belongings soaked with no way to dry them out.

They asked me if I was concerned about “social cohesion” in society. When I asked what they meant by that term they refused to say.

But next few minutes they said their biggest concern for “our country” was “social cohesion”.

I have a feeling this is code for #racism.

Can anyone explain?

I met someone today for the first time. They had a South African accent. They asked me about my political, social values, beliefs, leanings. This person told me they had worked for two politicians in the past. When I asked who they refused to say.

Indigenous leaders like Marcos Xukuru (Brazil) and Rukka Sombolinggi (Indonesia) reminded the world that real climate solutions are rooted in ancestral knowledge.

Umm, google, I wrote that thesis. And it certainly does not match the search words I just used.

(No, I don't rely on AI summaries for research)

Bill Gates and Bjorn Lomborg bear a really substantial chunk of responsibility for supplying this line to every climate-delaying pro-fossil government around the world
Pressed to outline how the LNP will reduce emissions with their new energy plan, Sussan Ley says they’ll rely on “breakthrough technologies” in about “25 years time”😳 - ones not invented yet & “we’re not talking about today”🤔

I feel like this is unfair to preteen boys, tbh. Plenty of them are far kinder and more empathetic than men like Summers will ever be, even if they are insecure.

I think the idea they are just acting like young boys probably says a lot about how early this toxic thinking and behavior is learned

I don't think this ever happens.
Men who are aware that women are vulnerable in these situations behave accordingly, and find ways to communicate their professionalism.

At minimum this should trigger an investigation of whether Summers has ruined other young female economists' careers. Note the tense there: not "than I would enjoy", but "than I enjoy". As in, I have compelled women colleagues before and don't enjoy it. It's one line in an email, but a very bad one.

Also, for those thinking--the woman in this case likely isn't a student--I'd argue that even if she's an assistant professor, a situation like this could still negatively affect her career or push her out of academia (particularly if his frustration leads him to start bad-mouthing her to others).

Of course, I can't say whether that's actually what happened in this particular case. But it's not an uncommon occurrence. And it happens across a wide range of fields (I mentioned STEM because of Summers's past comments blaming women's "aptitude" for the leaky pipeline in STEM).
