As we leave Westminster for Recess, some scenes from Chanukah in Downing Street. I will never take for granted that I live in a multi-faith, multi-ethnic democracy where the heart of Government can hold space for celebrating the range of traditions that make up the rich tapestry of our nation.

Even by my low expectations for Kemi Badenoch ‘violence against women and girls is something done by immigrants and nobody else’ has shocked me.
Dog-whistle and factually incorrect. Ladies, raise your hand if you were sexually assaulted by a boy at school? I’d wager this or a family member is most women’s first experience of sexual violence

I welcome today's sentencing of Paul Doyle, who receives a total sentence of 21-and-a-half years in prison.

I hope seeing justice done will begin the process of closure for all those affected by the events following the Liverpool FC parade in May.

MPs have PASSED the Employment Rights Bill AGAIN.

Now its over to the Lords to do the right thing - pass the Bill and deliver the new rights that working people are crying out for.

No idea what telly Lord Sewell is watching, because I can't think of a single show with this plotline let alone it being something that is inescapable for young white men who subsequently now face a crisis of masculinity drawing them to the far right?? 🙃

It is the first night of Chanukah and what should be a time of celebration is again also a time of grieving following the antisemitic terrorist attack in Australia. As Jews all over the world light our candles this Chanukah with our hearts heavy, we will keep alive the flame of hope in the darkness.

I don't usually get very excited about peerages, but am genuinely buzzing to have Cllr Dr Sara Hyde and Dr Sophy Antrobus MBE joining the House of Lords - both absolutely exceptional appointments!

This is vile and so so wrong. GB News is the TV version of X.

Extreme racism like this should not be platformed as ‘news.’

It is absolutely disgusting and another attempt to drag ‘debate’ to the right and destabilise our democracy.

Somehow this got missed off the "Benefit Street" front pages today
70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

Some thoughts on the budget and a big announcement that reminded us what a Labour government can do. We need much more of this sort of thing.
Labour just did something vital - now we need much more of it

Earlier in the week I visited the Chancellor for a pre-briefing in No 11, on measures I have been lobbying for as part of today's Budget. Taken together, and as the distributional analysis shows, this is a Budget that is rooted in fairness - see more thoughts here:

Incredibly sad to learn of the death of Baroness Helen Newlove. She will be an enormous loss to politics, missed by all the victims and survivors she worked so hard to support and champion, and of course most acutely by her family and friends.

May her memory forever be a blessing ❤️

Today at PMQs, I asked the Deputy Prime Minister to pay tribute to the staff on our railways - who are often maligned in the press - for the vital role they play in keeping us all safe, from averting suicides on the rail network to dealing with emergencies like we have seen this week in Huntingdon.
