All the students at the school are using the pouches, and the 90% reduction figure was the school's data on the number of safeguarding incidents in the school over 2 yrs given in their presentation at the event - in this particular thread I am only talking about the experience of that one school.

The data from the first year the policy was in place showed a ~90% reduction in safeguarding incidents, which means there's more resource and capacity for the pastoral staff to work with the students and parents where there are still issues than there was previously - this can only be a positive IMO

At Birchwood HS, which has approx 1500 students, as kids come into school they put their phones in the pouch and lock in front of a member of staff. They keep the pouch on them and on their way out, touch a magnet to release the lock. Takes v little time.

Last September, Birchwood Community High School introduced Yondr Pouches - a system that makes the school entirely phone-free. The school has recently reported how ‘transformative’ the pouches have be...

That's not what I'm arguing at all. I'm saying that Brianna's mum - who actually knew her, loved her, had to sit through every minute of her murder trial - gets more right to say what honours her memory than a random person on Bluesky none of that applies to. I don't think that's unreasonable.

There's a lot of things I've never mentioned on Bluesky because I'm not that active on this platform. You could literally Google my name and the word trans, however, and you'd see that's not a fair characterisation of my views at all.

Do you not think it's bizarre to have strangers on the internet decide they know better than Brianna's own loved ones on what is or isn't insulting to her memory?

I've got no time for Rosie Duffield, but she turned up at a drop-in event in Parliament and that's been the limit of her involvement.

And how do those children typically access the media they've been radicalised by? 🤔

Measures like this are not intended *instead of* measures to keep trans kids and adults safer, but they're not at odds with those objectives either.

You're genuinely deranged if you think I believe either of Brianna's killers deserve less than the life sentences they were both handed, or that I think Brianna was in any way at fault for her own murder.

I'm supporting her mum, who is a constituent, which is... my job.

Go and touch grass.

Indeed, although the judge's verdict in this case was that transphobia was a secondary motive and that primarily it was "sadistic in nature" as there were also plans to kill other children too. Various different factors relevant here that we can hopefully address to keep all kids, trans or cis, safe
