Again the correct answer is to act like none of this has the force of law BECAUSE IT DOESN’T. He is just doing things and people are complying, but these things aren’t being done within the rules! Any member of Congress can simply declare that none of this is real at any time, and they’d be right!

if a major politician held an emergency rally about the current ongoing coup by the richest man in the world, I think people would go to it. Shit is well and truly fucked. I can think of a couple of people who should do that right now.

I will also add that people in Congress are not volunteers. They are being paid. They have health insurance. They have retirement. They have ONE JOB—to serve their constituents. And if they cannot figure out how to push back politically they don't deserve to be in office.

Democrats should be offering zero votes for any Republican bills while the illegal impoundment continues. The one exception is the debt ceiling, and then Democrats should only support bills to eliminate the debt ceiling, not lift it temporarily for Trump

Biden had FOUR YEARS to try to move the needle on this. Making this ERA statement now, with a foot literally out the door, and shirting the focus to a humble government functionary, is not courage and is not progress. It’s cowardice, from a party that has gotten all too used to it.
Biden says the Equal Rights Amendment is law. What happens next is unclear
To come into effect, the constitutional amendment would need to be formally published or certified by the national archivist, who has declined to do so in the past. What happens now is unclear.

Still just hootin and hollerin about the Post deciding a Supreme Court justice's wife absolutely losing her shit while her husband elects not to attend the literal Biden inauguration a couple weeks after the capitol was attacked was somehow *not newsworthy*

The Supreme Court was designed to support the interests of wealthy white men. Any deviation from that came as a result of intense struggle.

It’s past time to recognize progress isn’t a given and that you can’t count on this system to save you. We’re going to have to do it ourselves.

Pour that carceral state funding into urban planning and robust transit. A lot of built environment approaches to car violence are cheap to implement, with big payoff!

There's a lot of things wrong, but there are also a lot of people working on plans to fix many of them. One of the main issues is that those people don't have the cultural, political, or economic capital to really shift the fucking weight of what needs changing past the crux point. Find and support…
