F/NB WAYFARERS x MURDERBOT x SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN

Everything fell apart when the human came aboard. Instead of nice meals and quiet cargo runs, Tai's stuck with bickering crewmates, sinister criminals, explosions, and worse, a human who wants to be friends. #QuestPit #SF #A #Q #R #LGBT

It's crazy that the mayor gets to fuck around with vancouver's budget and not be specific at all, while the funds I applied for turned me down for nonexhaustive budgeting. If sim applied for the funding I applied for re: STREET UNI X when I was seeking it, he'd have been laughed off the zoom call

I attended SFF cons as a teenager.

I stopped getting regularly and persistently sexually harassed at SFF cons sometime in college.

"Oh wow you look way older"

No the fuck I did not because when I WAS older these weirdos stopped.

They know what the hell they're doing.
To the two well-respected local SF/F community leaders who each told a teenage child of a friend of mine, "I can't wait for you to turn 18, I'll be waiting for you," I know your names you fucking shitty-ass pedo bastards, and I *remember*.
I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

If you aren't happy with customer service you can leave, right? People who use wheelchairs don't have that luxury and are getting stuck in their homes or beds for weeks while they wait for repairs, often without updates.

Something i have absolutely no idea how to do or what even to look for are reviewers and awards. Like, I'm vaguely aware of some of the indie awards but like, has anyone compiled a database of "submit your new release to all of these places"? Because i can't find one and i would literally pay for it

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

We all knew this argument was coming from these people, but it's sure sickening to see it happen.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

You ever heard of Julie Dash? Some of you undoubtedly have, but quite a few I'd imagine not.

Julie Dash is the first Black woman (ever) to have a full-length film with a theatrical release in the United States.

In 1991.

There's a book as well.

Julie Dash turns 73 years old today

I can't remember the precise wording but someone on here said that the Republican threat to expose Bill Clinton too isn't so much a threat as it is a "buy one, get one free" promotion.
"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

My #FirstDraftFall project tells the story of Nia, teenage street mage and pickpocket who misses her friend and one-time fellow gang member Sadah, who taught Nia everything she knows and who died last year. Except as the spinoff I'm currently outlining explains, that's not at all what happened.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Are there any characters that are important to your story but who haven't appeared in person on the page?

Someone historical? Or who died before the events of the story? Or someone absent for other reasons?

This keeps on getting worse and worse. I am not renewing my print subscriptions to F&SF and Asimov's.

(F&SF seems to still be on hiatus, the last issue I got was 1.5 years ago? Summer 2024? So crushing, I really liked it, Sheree's a truly great editor)
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Exhausting Russia's military through the brave sacrifice of thousands of Ukrainians and a massive amount of Western money and materiel was too hard to repeat, so NATO's plan to deal with the US is to stand by and shrug while Trumpists order the US military to hammer nails into their junk.
I'd just like to point out that we spent an entire shipment of air defense interceptors' worth of money on new signs for a name change that isn't even legally the name of the DoD.

Ukraine is currently experiencing rolling blackouts from Russian strikes, btw.
Letterheads and signage alone would quickly run the bill upward of $1 billion, with a full overhaul likely rising to double that amount.

This was one of the final incidents that made me give up journalism.

I pulled on every contact I had to argue that even if one supported the gender conservative position, journalists laundering their involvement in this way fundamentally undermines the entire institution of journalism.
The ultimate twist is that 'gender critical' activist-journalists, Deborah Cohen and Hannah Barnes, reported the study to the HRA themselves!

The HRA was required to open an investigation because they’d received a report... which gave the Newsnight duo the shocking headline they desired.
