Colorado's Rep Brittany Pettersen (D) flew cross-country with her one-month-old to vote against the GOP budget tonight. Dems ended up one vote short. Pettersen was part of an unsuccessful bipartisan push to allow new mothers to vote remotely. #copolitics

I try not to go down the “Do you think there will be another election?” doom spiral, but seeing Republicans refuse to subject Musk to the most nominal oversight as he rants about putting the Treasury on the blockchain does seem like a preview of how easy it would be for him to commandeer voting.

Exactly. No is a complete sentence
Murphy: "We need to act like a real opposition party in the middle of a constitutional and democracy crisis. That means we should not be moving forward nominees or legislation in the Senate. Ds should not be giving votes to nominee or legislation in the Senate until Rs get serious about this crisis"

Afffirmative action for white men goes back before the founding of this nation. DEI was an attempt to broaden the pool and level the playing field a little bit after centuries of exclusion. And then the longterm a.a. beneficiaries had a backlash meltdown, and here we are.

I assume this is his reaction to W. actually have one thing in his miserable presidency that was actually praiseworthy.
I know there’s a lot right now. But folks need to understand what this means.

A suspension this long would mean people living with HIV lose their medicine for months. People around the world lose their PrEP for months, putting millions at risk of getting HIV. Drug-resistant strains could emerge.

A tough thing in this era of both extreme incompetence and extreme corruption is going to be separating the unintended consequences from the intended consequences.
This is why you can’t conduct foreign policy in broad strokes.

Everything you do as the President has reverberating consequences.

Any discussion of this proposal needs to link it to the Republican drive to keep tax cuts for billionaires.

“They’re taxing us to pay them” is a pretty easy and effective message
“Republican lawmakers are considering a change to tax policy that would make college more expensive for students receiving grants and scholarships to help pay their tuition bill.”

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
